Well, I finally decided to partner with Lime. My account was activated yesterday and I've been going through the program and I must say.....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

And, no, I'm not getting anything to leave this review and no one has asked me to leave a review.

This is truly a top notch professional company. The training is very easy for a newbie to understand. I can honestly vouch for that because I'm definitely not a techie.

I've had just a few question as I was going through the stuff in my back office and the responses have always been quick.

There is so much stuff included that I thought I was going to have to develop myself, but I was surprised to find it automatically included.

I'm really excited about how much business I'm going to do with Lime.

What made you go with lime compared to the other companies, and which other companies did you look into?

I got a hold of UV and i am leaning towards lime for sure I guess everyone left the office but he was nice enough to call me back while he was driving. Only few things that i am still question is there couponing system. I am unsure of the WAP coupon that they use does it require a MMS text or what is that? The tracking of use of coupon's does not seem to be there as it does in Trumpia. In trumpia you can issue a certain amount of coupons and it generates random codes and the business owner can login to his account and mark off which ones have been used to make sure people are not using the coupon more than once. If lime does not have a sms coupon tracking system like this then you would have to send out coupons that are only valid for 24 hours or shorter periods, compared to being valid for a week or longer.

Hi Hooked,

I have been with Lime for 8 months now and LOVE it. The mobile image coupons can be sent to feature phones as well as smartphones. They can be viewed by clicking a link or using simple 4 digit code via text for the feature phones. My clients really love the tracking of the mobile coupons. They can access the dashboard and get up to the minute info or any previous time frame they want and it shows coupons sent, coupons viewed, as well as coupons redeemed. Its awesome. Lime tracks this by having a unique identifier for each coupon sent out.

I looked at some of the major ones and some of what I would call minor companies.

At first, I really like the way the mobile sites looked with DudaMobile but I had a lot of issues with the formatting of text, cannot add a mobile page if it's not a page on your original site, the contact forms give me errors on some sites (they wouldn't submit), some features would not save after saving them (some of them would show up on the preview in their site builder, but wouldn't show up in a simulator or on the desktop), sometimes their support would answer questions in a way that a newbie had no clue what they were talking about, on one issue it took them not days but weeks to solve the problem. I did like Duda because you could start with no money. You can create a mobile site and demo it to a prospective client and you only have to pay a $9 monthly charge for the site only after it is published.

I looked at MobeeArt and I was really excited about them because I thought they had the most full featured mobile site builder of anyone I saw. I was ready to go with them until I read the contract/agreement and their terms of use and I decided that even though at the time I thought they had the best website builder, I could not sign the agreement and agree to their terms of use.

I looked at so many others and for various reasons, I kept looking until I took a serious look at Lime. Some of the website builders I look at seemed to have unprofessional looking sites and some of them had outrageous prices for the reseller so much so that the reseller would not be able to make a decent profit.

Avid has a good SMS program, but I didn't like their website builder. I felt it was too basic and didn't have enough features. I was considering using just their SMS program even though the mobile site builder would not cost me any more to use it too. But I thought I could use their SMS program and use another company for building mobile sites.

I know there are some WSO's that have mobile website builders and I considered checking out some of those but I'm such a newbie that I don't even have the "bie" in that word, just "new."

When I found out that Lime was introducing their premium mobile website builder, I took a closer look at them. I signed up for their demo account and started building a site and I thought, WOW, this is nice, it looks great, and it has a lot of features. Then I started looking at their SMS program, too and I found out that I liked it better than Avid, too. ALL of Lime's packages are true white label and you really have to start forking out a huge monthly fee to have TRUE white label with Avid.

So, after a couple months of research and basically teaching myself all of what little I still know, and after talking with U.V.(Yuval) with Lime I signed up with them. My account was only activated this week, and as I go through all of their stuff, I am constantly be amazed at all of their features, Agreemant, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Support, etc., I feel that after all my time spent researching and learning, I made the right decision. I'm so excited that my wife is tired of hearing about all of it.

I feel that the two major players in the SMS program are Avid and Lime, but the one company where I can have it all (including the mobile website builder) in Lime.

To each his own. Do your research and my all means read the Agreements, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policies word for word. Then make your own decision about which company would be the best fit for you, your personality, your expertise, what you want to accomplish, and your gut feeling.

To my knowledge, Lime does NOT offer check-in coupons. However what's unique is that they DO offer real ONE-TIME use coupons. The way it works is is that each customer gets a link on their phone to an individualized coupon that they are instructed to not open up until they are in front of a server or register. After they open the link it can not be re-opened. So if they close the resultant webpage the coupon goes away.

They also have the system setup for more traditional SMS where those without smart phones would receive another text reply with the coupon instead of the webpage.

It's a pretty different system than what most sms platforms provide. You should open a demo account to give it a try.

I think that you should put some of your clients on avid and some of your clients on Lime...After six months you can compare both services. You can choose best among them. Thanks

I have had nothing but EXTREME PLEASURE using Avid Mobile. They have an amazing support system and real knowledgeable reps! (James Hutson is my rep)

And a terrific Back Office! I did a lot of homework and finally chose them after doing some real research.....went with them (not just because of pricing) because of the their total understanding of the industry and how it works.

I too have been kicking the tires of both the Avid Mobile and Lime Cellular platforms, and I've found both companies offer quality customer service and pre-sales consulting - and as nobody disputes, both platforms are A1 in terms of features and text messaging functionality.

The one thing that could be a game changer for me is Lime's Premium mobile website builder. It looks to be very powerful, but I'd love to see exactly how people are using it (for those of you who've been with Lime for quite some time). Does anybody have a Lime premium mobile website that they'd like to share? Does Lime have a demo showcase that they're willing to share with their White Label resellers? I'm especially interested in the GeoLocation widget features which look very powerful, and are uncommon in other mobile website builders that I've evaluated.

Rob, you can pull up HypeText Mobile Media Local & Mobile Marketing Solutions on your Mobile Phone to get a general Idea. I am going to be doing a redesign of what is there but that was done in all of about 20 minutes. The Platform has a LOT more functionality for the Mobile sites than what I made use of.

Rob,

It's nothing fancy, but this is what we came up with for our business:

We help you to get more customers and keep them longer.

We've been working on some other sites in which we're matching designs, logos, photos, colors, etc. with other desktops sites out there but I don't want to post those links here since the prospects haven't purchased yet. I think they look great and if the business owners don't object, I can send you the links, too.

I don't have enough posts to do pm's but you can submit the contact form from our site.

They can Open the Coupon...they just click the REDEEM Button when redeeming it at the counter.

First, anyone messing around with Twillio has to realize it's long code. You can't do broadcast blasts with long code. You might get away with it for a while but sooner or later you're going to get burned. Carriers don't like it.

And I have an email from a VP at Twillio that I posted here at the WF stating same.

So if you're serious you need a short code.

I'm in Canada so my choices are limited but I too had narrowed it down to Avid and Lime.

I had one foot firmly planted in Avid's corner a couple of months ago. It took them a while but they figured out that they did have an issue with Virgin Canada and one of their features...and fixed it.

I had a bad experience with Anchor mobile (ongoing) and have been fighting to get a refund through the credit card company. So a couple of months passed and I relooked at their (lime and Avid) packages and pricing. They have changed dramatically.

Now I've got one foot in Lime's corner.

Avid's people should move to Lime. Avid definitely as the better sales crew. In fact I'd be tempted NOT to do business just because of their new guy "Sebastian".

He butchered a webinar the other day and has no clue at all about how to do sales, his own, and therefore won't be able to help you.

He made just about every sales mistake you could make on a phone sales call with me. He said "you might as well just go to Avid", told me I had a "problem", I was "wrong"...etc. I'm not kidding.

What I was doing was taking their monthly fee and deducting the cost of the "free" messages to get a "base price" in my mind which I could then compare. He told me they were "free". I said no they weren't. Call them whatever you want, don't insult me...talk sales guy to sales guy...the price is built in to the package.

Then he said something like, "EVERY time I say something you ALWAYS tell me I'm wrong"...I pointed out the ONLY thing I had said he was incorrect about was that the messages included in the packages were "free".

So I got him calmed down and asked if he wanted to start over.

Anyway...by the end of it he ended up aplogizing for "getting me on the defensive". Kind of a backhanded apology but I'll give him credit for that at least.

One thing...does Avid own their own platform? Lime says Avid doesn't.

The biggest thing Avid has it the sales help. I've dealt with James and he seems like a guy I'd want in my corner.

Lime has the mobile site builder.

Avid charges for incoming messages. Lime doesn't.

Keyword costs are a pain but once you get to the Premium+ level (at Lime) they are a non factor.

Believe it or not...this wasn't even mentioned when I talked to Lime...

"One of Lime's newest features are their very professional marketing materials that you can provide to your clients including image artwork table tents, signs, and even videos. When you combine that with their new online training program with instructions and quizzes for not only use of this powerful platform but also how to effectively present and sell this product to your local businesses you have a winning combination. Oh and don't forget exclusive access to the private forum for white label clients to get tips and advice of whats working with other clients across the country and Canada too."

So as of right now, I'm leaning toward Lime... in spite of the VP Sales, Sebastien.

Seems to me if you're a decent marketer already...go with Lime. If you need help in that department...go with Avid.

Spiritman

PS..One thing I didn't like was all the mandatory included information on the Lime initial outgoing text...Avid was a little more flexible with this. For those of you using the system...is that still there?

PPS... These aren't big organizations guys. A couple people in an office (maybe) with the platform offsite somewhere with techies playing with it. So all the reps are VP's and don't be surprised if the talk to the CEO (he could be in his underwear at the kitchen table for all you know)

That information is there because it is required by law to be there. If it isnt there it can lead to major legal problems. If Avid is omitting it I would be very surprised...

1. I'm not sure it's Canadian law.
2. I'm not sure it can't be a lot shorter than what I saw i.e not include the potential monthly number of transmissions...

Even if it isnt law...It may be required by the Carriers, that would take some checking to verify.

I am not really sure why it is of such concern, its only in the first message and even then, still leaves you 140 characters to work with.

Lime dictates exactly how it looks/what it says...it's hard coded into the message.

Avid leaves room for flexibility. No one said they weren't compliant.

My original post, that was copied in it's entirety into another post explicitly says "I'm in Canada...".

Thanks for clarifying the ownership issue James.

I am still failing to see what the actual issue is with the wording.

I guess I should just go ahead and ask.

Why is the wording an issue for you?

I never said you had said they werent...I just said I expected they were compliant

Sorry about missing your Location...simple miss on my part.

I am just trying to understand the source of your concerns.

Re: Avid Mobile or Lime Cellular?

I'm going to chime in on this post. I just switched from Avid to Lime. I thought Avid was the best choice until I joined them. Then my eyes were open to the reality that Avid does not have the advanced technology in a platform that I was looking for. It became even more evident when I tried to get support and found they had no clue on a lot of the technology and all their material was way outdated. It took over two weeks to get rolling with Avid.

I jumped over to Lime and to my surprise their advance technology and ability to set my entire white label platform up in just 2 hours was amazing. I didn't have to ask any questions. They had everything I need and their pricing was stellar compared to Avid.

My recommendation is for LIME all day long. They have what it takes and provide what you need hands down.

Hey Mark,

Just curious how you are coming along with Lime at this point? Is everything still moving along as smoothly as when you first signed on?
Thanks for your feedback!

You really can't go wrong with either one. If you definitely want the stronger sales support head to Avid. I mean support that will help you close large deals and is not just talk. Most of the technology is completely transparent to your customers and all they care about is the results. Selling just the technology will not build long term business but selling ROI and Results will. Both are great platforms but a newer better one will be here next week...it's better to buy into the support system which can better achieve your goals.

Also noticed one of my previous posts disappear for some reason. Some things stated previously were 100% untrue. Our clients are live into our resellers back office and platform within 5 minutes of them submitting payment. The individual in question had his white label set up in 2 business days, we still have an email where he thanked us for our support and timeliness.

I am aware this is a forum, and used for additional research, just insuring the research is done based off fact and not fabrication.

Great discussion on two great platforms. I've come to the realization that neither platform may be best for mobile websites. If you package a mobile website with either platform you are marrying yourself for a very long time to that platform. I've had to rethink this and strongly considering moving all mobile sites "off platform" and maybe only promote as a mobile landing site only.

Food for thought..I wouldn't make the built in mobile designer the big reason you chose one over the other..

So those that have signed up with either Lime or Avid did you guys already have clients in the funnel that were going to sign up or are you signing up with either provider then going after clients to sign up? I ask because these reseller accounts are charged monthly and once you start with either provider and paid first month you have to start moving and finding clients to close to not only cover the monthly cost, but also make some profit as well?

I can't speak for others, but with the charging of a Set up Fee the monthly nut is pretty much automatically covered from the get go.

Knowing there is a bill upcoming can be a great motivator when it comes to getting out there and getting clients.

SMS is not a hard sell, the trick is to stress the benefits to the Business Owner...

100% spoken for truth, you want to charge them for the product regardless if it is a set up fee or monthly fee. Think about you personally, if I charged you for a product or gave it to you at no charge, which one would cause you to work harder? Obviously the one you paid for because you are invested in it.

To elaborate a step further, the hardest part from the start is going out and building up leads. Not everyone has the benefit of an established company with a huge list they can leverage. You have to get out their and cold call, network, go door to door, use social media, and really bust your back to get going.

Obviously when you get in front of these business owners you have to be an expert on the product. You do not want to pitch them without the proper education, because you may just stir up their interest enough to look in other directions.

Training is key. There are way too many jumping on the "Mobile Bandwagon" without having any idea what they are doing, and that will do more damage than good to a Business client...

Again spoken for truth!

Any business owner that has previously done mobile and no longer does will most likely still have a bad taste in their mouth because the person who sold it to them was clueless.

Guys,

If you have questions for any of these SMS companies, please contact them directly, outside of the forum. This is NOT a support thread for any of the SMS companies. This thread was created for people to share their own personal experiences they have had with either of the SMS companies. It's now starting to turn into a Q and A support thread.

Please, let's get back to the main point behind this thread.

When a representative of a company decides to post in this thread, and provides inaccurate information -- maybe to avoid spilling "bad news" information -- it is only natural for us to argue its accuracy by posting questions here.

In doing so are just encouraging even more spruiking from these companies. This was supposed to be a user opinions thread and now it's just full of post after post from the various SMS companies which helps no one -- it's not very unbiased now is it.

I completely agree with you, but what would you recommend? Let it slide, and let the users believe in false information? It became bias the moment these SMS companies posted in this thread.

But I understand them; what if the users were spreading false information? It is the company's responsibility to try and control its public image.

If someone was badmouthing your name, it is only natural that you would intervene, unless you were unaware of the situation, which is not the case here as the WF is quite a popular place.

All of this creates a vicious cycle, doesn't it?

This exactly.

People saying they prefer one company over another or they don't like this feature from this company, etc is NOT misrepresenting. They are opinions and in a public forum that's exactly what you would expect to see.

Majority of the posts from the SMS companies have nothing to do with false information being presented, it has to do with them trying to look like the better solution than all the others out there.

If it keeps up I will look to close this thread. As a modeator of this mobile marketing forum the majority of the spam I delete on a daily basis is from sms companies coming in here with no other intention than to blow their own trumpet.

Rebecca,

In Canada every company endures a cost per incoming text, I am speaking about United States pricing. In the United States there is a cost, however it is so miniscule we wave it all together. Canada is a much different situation.
