Books to read?

Most of the John le Carré books are outstanding (he's a hugely underrated and profound author, underrated mostly because so many people wrongly imagine that his work is "just genre fiction", whereas it's actually very much more than that). His more recent ones are completely up-to-date, of course. But if you don't mind something "slightly historical", then the "Karla Trilogy" (of which the first is called Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), set in the 1970's, are perhaps his very best. All three volumes of them have been re-published together under the collective title "The Quest for Karla", or something similar, now.

The Houdini Girl, by Martyn Bedford, is also a brilliant "mystery"/"crime thriller". (Don't let the name of its current publishing imprint influence you at all: it's currently published "out of genre" for some strange reason.)

There's also an early novel by Stephen Fry, called Making History, which I'd recommend.

The last two, above, are also very entertaining, and perhaps a little easier to read than le Carré.

One of my favourite authors is James Patterson. He's very prolific and has plenty of good books to read. I read everything he writes and I know there are more than 30 books to read.

What to expect when you're expecting.

Tuesday's With Morrie is the best story of all time.

If you don't mind a little more mainstream writer......if you are looking for suspense, espionage, that type of thing, Dan Brown's Digital Fortress is a fast and very good read.

Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" is an annual read for me. Funny, engaging, and reminds you about what life really means.

Stephen King's Dark Tower series is excellent, as is George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (on which Game of Thrones is based).

Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels are fun reads if you're looking for mind candy.

Asimov, Heinlein, Toffler and Dick on my reading list...

The 4 hour workweek (by Tim Ferris). Great book !

I always enjoy Raymond Chandler's mini-novels.

I'm a Sci Fi fan so I would say "Ender's Game" is a very good book. Very well-written by Orson Scott Card (If I'm not mistaken)
