My baby fell ill a few days ago and I felt a little lost as I've never been in this type of stressful situation before. First she was getting hot, then cold, and I couldn't figure it out atall. I got her seen to but I was told that it would cost me £70 just to find out what the problem was and then more fees to cure the problem depending on what it was.

Here's the symptoms of my baby. When I switch her on the fan suddenly switches on full speed as if she is over heating and because the fan is on it then switches itself off to cool itself down thinking that it is hot when infact it's not. Either there is something wrong with the fan or the motherboard.

If I don't get my baby fixed I'm going to have to work from this laptop untill I get another computer, {I mean, 'baby'}

Any help would be appreciated. :confused:

    Actually it could also be the power supply.

    Theres a possibility it may be a virus, Ive seen a few computers with that issue. Most notably my cousins computer that required a reformat to fix the issue. Of course, as already said, it could be the PSU or you may need to apply new thermal paste to the processor. Cant really say without really looking at the computer.

      I did too up until the second paragraph where he starts mentioning a fan. Being monday morning and all here, I took me a minute or two to fully process that and figure out what he was talking about.

        Same here. I agree with KimW - it could be the power supply.

    Just a thought but have you ever cleaned the inside of the box? Often an accumulation of dust will create a situation like you describe. Using a can of compressed air to blow the dust out can be very effective - switch off first, though.

    You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
    Build it, make money, then build some more
    Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
