    These kind of stories kinda lose their potency to me when they post sensational claims -- "will put you in tears".

    My parents were in love for 38 years, until they day my mom died. One would walk into the room and their eyes would flash at each other. They didn't just love each other - they were IN love. I am glad that my dad was able to move on, though. It would be tragic to see him like this instead of enjoying the rest of his days.

    I have a high school friend that went out with a guy for awhile - married someone else. After around 25 years she divorced and this dude was right there again. I'm sorry - I find that kind of obsession a little scary. She's with him now. He talks about them being together for 30 years like the rest of her life never happened. To me it's spooky.

    Love is love and I am 100% all for being in love. Where does love turn into fanatical obsession, though, and is that even love anymore?

      The article made it seem the couple was very mutual. Your example sounds a little weird. As long as she's
      really, really okay though. Not desperately afraid of being alone and not on the rebound.

      I had a very good female friend in high school. In our early 20's, I wanted very much to get romantic.
      Did not happen. We graduated college and she got a good job in another state and spring she met
      a guy and got married within a year. He was much older and she was a step-mom to someone 8
      years younger. They did have kids of their own. We lost touch for a long time. She got back in touch
      after they divorced. Turns out she was not happy from day one as he was full of crap about his financials
      and income and she was the breadwinner through the marriage. No idea why she stayed, but I was really
      disappointed to find out that happened and that I never got the chance. We did not even keep in touch again.

        I've always said that after loving Bill, I could never love another. I just can't imagine loving another man, period.

        Perhaps I would feel differently if I found myself alone in the world without him. I can't imagine it, but...

        Hopefully, I never have to find out.

          It's not the "can't find anyone else I'm so taken over" part that is spooky or sad to me. It's the daily pining - taking the pic everywhere and setting it up. To pine like that is just unnatural to me. To miss someone you cherished, well that's normal, but to spend the rest of your life pining about the loss - well that's just unbalanced and unhealthy.
