Spending time in front of my computer 12 to 16 hours a day makes my life meaningless.... I feel like working as a UN volunteer would be a good idea... I think I'm qualified based on my education and experience...

Anyone here has tried working as UN volunteer? Care to share your experience?

Just a thought outside the box....

Unfortunately, the United Nations do not have a standing army so you cannot participate, even in a volunteer capacity,

I know, it is completely screwed up. How can a body that pretend to enforce international law not have a standing army?

The UN secretary general have absolutly no powers. He cannot invade anyone
even small insignificant countries like Grenada.

He is a bit like the pope or the Holy Roman emperor.

Your best bet woud be instead to join the French Foreign Legion.

I'm not taking about the army or military.. I'm talking about humanitarian works like UNICEF and UNHR.

Adie, surely there is something closer to home that needs some charitable volunteers? That way, it won't use up all the time you need to spend on your business. Maybe even a part-time job would work to help get you away from the computer, although I would certainly discourage telemarketing!

It would be a cold day in hell before I'd lift a finger for the UN. I have considered that if I get the time and can free myself up - Greenpeace is where I'd put that time and energy.

Not sure where the cities of smiles is - but coastal clean up can help both land and sea creatures survive. If you are located near any form of waterway - Greenpeace probably has, or would help you coordinate a clean up effort.

    VERY kewl, Adie.

Looked up City of Smiles. Oh yeah, I can imagine that Greenpeace is extremely active in that area. With the decimation you folks have had unleashed on your area, I imagine your environment and the animals in it both need some help.

Very proud to know someone in the Greenpeace effort. You have my respect.
