"Word" has no single meaning, but is used to convey a casual sense of affirmation, acknowledgement, agreement, or to indicate that something has impressed you favorably.

    So what does a sentence consist of? Frankly, I always viewed the meaning that you say is the only one as kind of a low level slang for "that's the truth", but HECK, you probably can't read this since it is blank. After all, a collection of letters or symbols in a row must convey no meaning because, if it did, it would have a name.

    In other words, word is used by young people who can't form a complete sentence to express themselves.
    Somehow by lacking cognitive thinking skills, they think it's cool to utter one word, 'word'.
    Or translated 'I don't know enough words to express myself so I'll say word and you fill in the blanks'.
