Bring Back A Joining Fee?

Hey Folks

Like most of you i'm sick of the spam, self promotion, nonsense threads started by halfwits and the halfwits themselves...

Do you think that a joining fee, lets say $10 for arguments sake would stop or at least reduce the problems we are experiencing?

IMO it would and i say this because i noticed a decline in spam and idiots from joining when Allen tried it for a while...

Cheers

Well it would stop the drive by "Nike" type spammers.
But it wouldn't stop the parasites looking for coaching victims.
$10 to answer every thread on the main forum with a loud sig file is a bargain.

I would love to see a $50 or $100 lifetime fee.

It would get rid of so many wanna be's, and spammers.

I've heard people scream at the thought of having to pay even $1. I'm sure a lot of losers would simply move on and change their underwear if they were asked for a $10 fee.

My PayPal is at the ready. I'm willing to pay the $10 just for the entertainment value of the OT.

I'm for it - I think it would discourage a lot of the spammers -
I mean they won't pay a reasonable fee in the Classified section - so I doubt they would pay a joining fee

Yes, many would. Others would scream about their right to post any nonsense threads they want "because I paid for it".

That's true, but most of them could be moderated into compliance with the rules. The ones who are an ongoing problem would be gone after a few strikes. Of course, that would depend on having moderators that haven't been neutered by ownership.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

That's not a problem. Just because you bought a ticket doesn't mean that you don't have to play by the rules. You get one warning for bad behavior. Second infraction you get tossed. You want to join again? It's $25 the second time you sign-up.

People generally learn quickly when their money is involved.

You make a good point Kay but like others have said just because you paid to join does not give you free reign to do as you please. We just need stricter enforcement of the rules...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

                    Rules..., yes, I remember those.

                    Ah, the memories.

The way I see it, that $10 would be a ticket of privilege for self-promotion. Like, "hey, I paid 10 bucks for my sig to be seen, my product to be endorsed and call out my clients with my lectures." Wouldn't that be harder to manage?

As I see it, there's gotta be some other way than this. Like smarter people perhaps?
