The Downsides Of Being Beautiful

This thread is a gross misrepresentation. My name wasn't mentioned once!

I was going to read the article, but it had lots of words and stuff, so I skipped it. Besides, I already know the downsides from experience.


...because my wife is beautiful. You didn't think I was calling myself beautiful, did you? :p

I doubt people will treat them with less care. Often, one of the BLESSINGS has been said that they are treated with MORE care. And WHO has thought that attractive men are better leaders? There are many leaders that were not good looking, and relatively few were said to be attractive. As for women, attractiveness DOES lead to higher salaries in various industries, and a track record speaks for itself.

Heck, outside of some things that tend to be cultural, and some sexual cues, people speak of the "golden ratio" as the mathematical definition of basic attractiveness. Ideally, there may be, ironically, a slight lack of symmetry, because it can otherwise seem a bit odd. Of course, when there is an extreme lack of symmetry, it can verge on hideous. But it goes to show how quick things can change.

The biggest problems may be the ones that speak of so many pretty people being very DUMB! It is ironic, since a lack of disease, injury, and malnutrition, may be credited with a greater chance of beauty AND intelligence. Then again, beauty may be like blond hair. BOTH are stereotyped as DUMB and BOTH are things some struggle to emulate. I once saw an article in a magazine and they took kids that LOOKED like kids, had blemishes, etc...

One girl, for example, had freckles, a non symmetrical nose, and was 12. OH, she WAS cute, but looked like the average cute 7th grade girl. They changed her into a beautiful clear complexion, symmetrical, 20 something woman! It was done in a short period of time through makeup, clothing, and things like hair styling. NO SURGERY! She could have given a lot of super models a run for their money!

BTW it was a kids magazine, and I think they did this just to show how such things could be done. For a while they did 1 or 2 a month. They did boys also.

Yeah, that really is something you'd have ask someone like Claude or Jessica Alba about.

The only difference between a very appealing person and somebody who is average, is that the first one encounter a lot of people that will only care about their looks. And we all want people that likes us for what we are . So that's the only "downside", that you have to have good filters when it comes to the people you trust.

Anything else they say is just an exaggeration.

I always had that problem, so I grew a beard never brushed my teeth didn't bathe much...

I've had friends that were so drop dead gorgeous that a lot of men were just scared to death to approach them at all. When they spoke, a lot of people didn't take them seriously. Men that did ask them out were often more interested in them as trophies rather than as humans. They had continual problems with stalkers. Other women hated their guts and talk trash about them or just treated them unkindly - even though they had never even spoken to them and knew nothing about them. It was really sad. I was never intimidated by beauty and these women really were just happy to have a friend who wasn't worried about them stealing a boyfriend just because they might be able to.

I'm glad that I wasn't outrageously gorgeous. It's probably nice to be able to look in a mirror and see something that wows other people, but judging by the hassle my friends went through, I'm thinking that it's not all some people make it out to be.
