I bought Sal's book, Saving Ricky: The Second Rescue. I finished it a few days ago. It was a quick read, maybe 45 minutes. It's $4.99 on Amazon.

In another thread someone asked her what she did as a "cure" for her dog's bone cancer.
I'm not going to give that information here, because that wouldn't be fair to her. But, in the last few days, I've done some research online...

The compounds she uses have soft evidence that they will shrink tumors, and help fight cancers. I wouldn't replace a doctor's advice, with this type of treatment... but it seems like a foolish idea, to ignore good nutrition..and these treatments are basically really good food.

Two complimentary ideas are; boosting your immune system, and fighting the cancer itself. I don't have cancer. But ignoring your immune system feels foolhardy. So, I bit the bullet, and bought a supply of the food extracts and herbs that Sally describes in her book. I know they won't hurt me...they aren't expensive....and they have other value, besides fighting cancer.

To be frank, my brain has no place for the irrational. And plenty, on this Off Topic forum, is irrational. But I think her book deserves a read.

If for no other reason, than if you want to argue with Sal (and who doesn't?), it's better to know what's she's talking about. This book provides that understanding.

Hey, Dennis got me to read a book about .Aleister Crowley. And, although it wasn't convincing to me, I can now say I understand what Dannis was talking about.

Anyway, I really suggest reading her book.

Jeez O Petes, Claude - I am just completely stunned. You are the last person in the world that I would have expected to read - let alone review my ebook positively. I am flattered beyond belief.

As far as "soft" evidence -- the information is straight out of Pub Med. It was all researched by highly respected medical research institutions for human use. I had to look up each element again on veterinary medical sites to make sure it was safe for dogs to eat without any side effects or possibility of overdose or mixing wrong with something else before giving it to him because I wanted everything safe and fool proof since dosage was a bit of a question for him.

I think even if someone is leery of natural meds, they can still enjoy the story if they are dog lovers. Ricky was a wonderful dog. Killing the villian that was killing him was the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. God I miss my little boy. I was able to give him another 1/3 life span, healthy, happy, and very much loved. I guess sometimes that has to be good enough. I can't do crap about severe old age.

Anyway - thanks for your purchase, and I'm so glad you liked it!

I couldn't stop reading it and as I'm writing this post, the tears are streaming down my face - because everything that you did for Ricky, Sal, all the supplements, the natural ingredients, this is all stuff that I learned about too and I wished that I could have had the opportunity to help out the people whom I lost to this disease.
Sadly, people don't trust natural cures because there are quacks out there who are only in it for the money, and they give natural healers a bad name.

But if one is as thorough a researcher as Sal is, the information is fully documented and proven - and as Sal describes in this book, it isn't just one magical supplement that cures cancer, but a combination of healthy supplements and foods that work together to rid the body of cancerous cells.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sal. You confirmed what I already knew and for that, as well as the wonderful story of your friend, Ricky, I am forever grateful.

ps: the black raspberries section was my favorite part of the story - it was like you had been guided to find that spot! I shivered joyfully when I read that part

Karen - the whole series of events hit me like "being led". I was actually packing to move to Valley County, ID when my sister asked me to come down there. I almost didn't go. I don't like California, hate Stockton, and don't really get along that closely with my sister. Yet - something made me go even though I was giving up needed employment to do so. And when I got there, there was Ricky.

When I look back, it couldn't have been any more right than if it had been preordained in stone. Who knows. Maybe it was.

          I understand implicitly, Sal.

You said that to me too when I first told you about Bill.

Yeah, Ricky looks so healthy in that pic and despite his age, has a youthful look about him. I'm sure it was the new lease on life you gave him.

I could record it into an ebook for you if you want. Do you think you could listen to it?

I know it's not a movie deal or anything, LOL, (joke) but if it will help you in easing the pain of loss, hearing how you helped him, I'd do it for ya.

Shane - As I've always said - you can't force people to look at anything they don't want to and you can't change a mind that is already made up. That doesn't upset me at all as long as it doesn't interfere with my life any. And it shouldn't.

I am into info share - but I hate control freaks and try very hard not to hammer hard enough to sound like one. I've put the info out that worked for me for anyone who wants it. There are cases that this might not be enough. It's at least is good prevention and a huge deal of aid if things go bad. When need arises, everyone has to, and will, make their own decisions. There's never been a time on earth that making decisions about anything life was fool proof. There never will be.

I don't take anyone's decisions personally, but am delighted when I see that someone has read, researched, and appreciates what I have offered. Especially when it was someone I hadn't expected it from.

      I know, Sal.

I just finished it again and got tears again.

I sort of related to a part of it a bit better this time as it brought home a memory.

Guys, I don't know if you remember when hubby was diagnosed with basil cell carcinoma a couple of years ago, but he was. Sal helped me with the treating of it before he could get in for surgery to remove it, which was three weeks but seemed like an eternity to me.

I remember her telling me not to freak out when the area treated began to look horrible, it meant that it was working. It turned red and looked angry, like it was festering, but we kept on with the treatments. It even festered up in an area nearby that wasn't visibly affected with the basil cell, meaning it was a larger area than hubby and I thought and went deeper. I mean from his spine all the way to his left side of his lower back was a rather large area. I was very afraid. Especially after working for an oncologist for years and facing cancer day in and day out and losing so many patients.

Anyway, when he went in for surgery to have it all removed, the doctors were amazed that the visible area of it had indeed shrunk. I told them why and they just patted me on the shoulder and smiled.

I can't forget to give my kudos to Thom as well, for his help. Between the two of them, hubby had less of the visible cancer area than three weeks prior and therefore had less of an area subjected to surgical removal. He goes for his annual check ups and remains cancer free to this day.

      Just so you know.

Sal, I'll never tire of reading that book!

I can't read it, Terra. It brings me to tears, too - it brings home memories for me, too - like you wouldn't believe.

I'll never forget how scared Ricky was the day my sister brought him home from the vet after being diagnosed with cancer. He did know something was wrong and that his first rescue mom was very upset and that it had to do with him. When my sister told me, she went into tears and Ricky just looked at her then at me. The look was so worried and helpless. I looked down at him, very calm, very assured, and not one bit scared, and told him "You are NOT going to die of cancer." Patted him on the head and that was it. He knew. You could see the relief in his eyes. He knew I told him it was all okay - and he trusted my resolve. That night he slept in my bed - slept with someone who cared about him for the first time at least since his rescue so many years before. And that's when life really started for my little guy. That's when I started healing from losing Munchie to old age.

I can't read it. I'm sure there are a few places that could use a quick edit. Nothing too severe I'm sure, but I know it could use at least a correction or two. I can't do it. I can't read it again. I never will. I do love to look at the pic on the cover though. Ricky all wet and happy and healthy again after swimming at our favorite "go" at Prineville reservoir. That is how I like to remember my guy. It's hard to believe he was around 15 or so when that pic was taken.

Terra - no. (and I think you mean audio-book?). No. I don't want to relive it. This thread, although much appreciated, is making me feel my loss too much as it is. It would have been great had he been younger so we'd have had more time together after he got well again. I knew from the start, though, that I was healing a dog that didn't have much time no matter what. Like I said - I can't do anything about old age (yet, LMAO).

No - thank you for the offer. I don't need to relive it. I'm glad to know that others get help from my experience. I'm glad people appreciate the story. I have no need to relive something that's ingrained in my memory so deeply.

What I need is to get into a place that I can have another little fuzzball again. That isn't too far away now. I am looking forward to the day I can post an "introducing" thread on the forum. This was enough of a blast to the past for me. It's time for me to look ahead.

Thanks again, Claude. It was a very pleasant surprise coming in here today. Um....guess it's time for me to go take my skin supplements. LOL.

I can't be sure of that until he finds me, Karen. One thing I can be sure of is that he'll be a young pup this time. I want another search and rescue boy so will want to start his training when he's still small enough to be well trained. He'll be a breed or mix that will have some size and girth when full grown, though.

Ha. Yeah, I'd prefer to have a dog with me to visit the swamp. When I know something's there before the new owner of the home does, I think I'd like to pack in a 4 legged sixth sense when I go. Incidentally - looking forward to seeing what kind of fossils we can dig up in that back woods. I'm sure there's a few rock bars back there - and those will have crinoids at the least.

Oh, and yeah, no doubt about the crinoids, I'll bet there is a lot of those fossils with plant matter. Those are always the easiest to find. Well, for me at least.

              Sea Urchins? Huh!

I always just thought they were coral and seaweed, haha!

Oh, and shells, definitely in abundance around here!

Understand. It's not a full-length book, though, so I didn't set it up for hard copy printing. As Claude said - it's only a short read. If I did have it printed it would just be a thin paperback guide book style anyway so I didn't do it. If I ever write a full length book, I will probably have it put up as either hard or e copy.

I have some PLR called Luscious Locks. A few guys I know have claimed good luck with the "conditioner" formula. Some baldness that guys think is male pattern baldness is actually just learned bad habits that stifle the follicles. The formula cleans them out and feeds them. I've never tested it as a "regrowth formula" but if hair is falling out, thin, or limp because it's not being cared for correctly it will sure help it.

Not sure how many men would have to test it out to make a claim on hair regrowth, but I have extremely thick hair so really not motivated to bothering with it. LOL.

It wasn't Aleister Crowley? (After going to my library). Yup, it's Edgar Cayce. Sorry about that.

LMAO - Crowley, Cayce. Um. Yep, I can understand the confusion.

I'm no longer surprised, though. I can see Dennis reading Cayce. My imagination was being stretched to the limit trying to imagine him engrossed in Crowley, though.

Coral might be there, too. Actually you're going to have very old forms of sea life. That's pretty old crust out there. The sea life is from before animals like fish, etc. Crinoids were very early forms of life - and actually are still around today. The top of the Crinoid looks like plant - flower, etc. and it has a stem section like a plant. I'm sure that any underwater plant that might have been around in that era might also be found, but you're unlikely to find land fossils there.

Petosky stones are the most widely known and popular fossil from the MI region. They polish up beautifully and are used for cabs for jewelry and belt buckles. I used to have a box full and now, as an adult who could actually use those, they are gone. A lot of the fossils from your back yard area will not be lapidary fossils and will be good for display only. Doesn't make them any less interesting at any rate. You could run across a petosky stone, even though unlikely.
