Visiting the IM forum, upstairs. At first it was funny, then sad. Lately, it's down-right frightening.

I'm glad to see that so many millionaires are now posting with their tips to success, though.

Speaking of phobias. I have one
It's a very specific color. that makes me nauseous. Fortunately, it isn't a common color. But I used to be epileptic, and this color would make me sick and induce seizures.

One day, selling door to door, I was in a home that had their living room painted in this color. I almost couldn't make it through the presentation. I had to look at the floor. My wife knows the color, so she won't buy clothes in that color. It weird. No idea how it works. Now, I just get queasy when I see it. No, I'll never say what color it is. It isn't exactly a phobia, just a strong visceral reaction.

When I was around 5 years old I decided that eating a whole watermelon as fast as I could was a great idea. When it came back up it was the most vivid pink I had ever seen. Up until about 5 years ago the color pink would make me very ill and sometimes cause me to vomit.
I still don't eat watermelon.

I tried to do that with a bottle of whiskey once when I was 15. I bet my mom had that one in her journal. I never have drank whiskey since either.

  Nadda. I was a bartender and had to hold the whiskey at arms length to pour it - even the smell gets me. I don't miss it - I like Asti, White Russians with baileys instead of cream, and margaritas, so don't need any whiskey. Can't drink 151 rum since college either. At least I'm not afraid of it, huh?

I've got a pretty long list myself. Things like peeing on an electric fence and sticking my tongue on a metal fence post in the middle of winter are on it. Now that I've survived to make my 60's I'd like to think I stopped doing dumb things, but the reality is I just do different dumb things

  I hate getting hit in the face with a baseball bat. There is just something about the experience that I want to avoid. Every time someone gets a baseball bat, and is about to hit me in the face with it, I just get this unpleasant sensation of fear.
  
  I know it's silly. But there is a moment, as the bat hits me in the face, that I want to avoid.
  Most other people are OK with getting hit in the face with a baseball bat. But there is just something about it...that freaks me out.

Not as long as the powers that be don't care about how the place is perceived. I'd be embarrassed to not moderate the IM forum more closely.

If you are going to allow post after post of newbies telling people it's possible to make $400k per year, starting with no experience and no capital, as long as you "believe you can do it," then they are going to have to live with the results.

Additionally, if you are never going to respond to support tickets, or the reporting of threads that require clarification, then no, the numbers will never recover.

Hard to believe that anyone could make an investment of the magnitude required to acquire this place and let it deteriorate so much and so quickly.

I'm assuming that they thought that if they bought it and just 'believed real hard' - that it would grow itself into a multi-million dollar operation.

Heights - kinda. I can climb as long as there's oxygen if I can do it at least on all fours. I've climbed some damned steep peaks without a problem - as long as the drop isn't completely vertical. Vertical drops scare me crapless - so am I afraid of heights or maybe just ledges? I don't do planes well, but I don't freak out when I'm in one. Putting myself in positions where other people are at the controls is extremely uncomfortable. I can't stand near a ledge at all though - I have to lay on the ground and inch up to the ledge slowly to be able to look over it.

Clowns and dolls - don't like em. Not phobic, but I don't like em. At all.

So guys what are your phobias? Name all your phobias, maybe members here can help you.

Uh......sure they will. Sure. If they had my address right now, I'd have all sorts of dolls in the mail on their way here. We OTers just love to help.

Dolls? You mean the baby dolls that are made to look like real babies? Those are just too dang freaky. I wouldn't call it a phobia, I just don't like those. I never liked pretend games like making mud pies. You couldn't eat them and they had no value to me when I was a kid.

Baby dolls - any doll, marionettes, human replica puppets of any sort, human likeness curios. Don't like em. I can handle animal puppets no problem - but if it look human, I don't want it around. Not actually phobic, but if they're around, I'll end up dreaming about them. They're eerie. My roomie has a Betty Boop collection and I'd give anything to pack it up and send it to Terra....I hate those things.

If you were phobic of dolls, you'd have Pediophobia (a branch of automatonophobia: fear of humanoid figures)

Claustrophobia, bad. If I even read about being trapped in enclosed spaces, my heart starts racing. I could never be a cave explorer or a miner.

Jumpophobia. If I get close to a high ledge like a dropoff, I have this overwhelming urge to do a swan dive from it, maybe to see if I could fly or something. So I don't go close to dropoffs on foot

Claustrophobia, bad. If I even read about being trapped in enclosed spaces, my heart starts racing. I could never be a cave explorer or a miner.

Jumpophobia. If I get close to a high ledge like a dropoff, I have this overwhelming urge to do a swan dive from it, maybe to see if I could fly or something. So I don't go close to dropoffs on foot

When I was a kid, I had a fear of thunderstorms and a huge fear of heights.

We had a large living room window. During thunderstorms, I would force myself to stand there, and watch the whole thing. I was maybe 8 or 10.

I would also find, if I stood on a ledge, an overpowering urge to jump off, or at least be pulled off the ledge. So I would force myself to stand on porch roofs and on top of our school (sneaking in at night). I still get a small queasy feeling when I look out of a hotel room on the 20th floor...but it passes very quickly. At least the urge to jump off is gone.

  Funny you should mention that.
  Another time when I was a little kid my parents took me to NYC where we stayed at the Taft Hotel. We where staying on the 20th floor and I decided to look out the window at the end of the hall and see if I could see the ground below the window. I almost fell out and it started my life long fear of heights.
  I also have a fear of the windshield coming off my motorcycle whenever I go over 100mph. I think a fairing will fix that fear though.

I don't have a fear of heights, but l do have a fear of falling off!

The only real fear l have is jumping into some deep ocean water, (a few metres deep onwards).

Eventhough there may be no sharks around, l am scared that if l jump in, l will be chewed up or some nasty creature will appear?

Probably a past life thing?

I was a huge Spelunker growing up. I remember two times where I was stuck in a small crawl space way back in a Cave for over 30 minutes. Iam not claustrophobic at all, but I admit these two instances shook me up

Also heights in general. It's so bad that I even get dizzy watching movies where the scene is at a height.
Examples:

The Bond film A View to A Kill - the scene where Bond and the girl are dangling from the Golden Gate Bridge.

The recent King Kong remake when they show the ground from atop the Empire State Building.

In both of those cases I actually get very dizzy* and have to turn my head or close my eyes.

I am the same way, but strangely enough being in an airplane doesn't bother me in the least, even with open doors.

I also suffer from claustrophobia really bad - and also I discovered after being trapped at a Rolling Stones concert that I suffer from a mild form of enochlophobia - fear of crowds - but that came about because after the concert the doors were locked and everyone was pushing to get out - I was trapped in the middle - I was with 3 other people and we hung on to each other for dear life - this happened at Rich Memorial Stadium in Buffalo in 1981

Rifflephobia. In 2013, a team of researchers found that all fears originate in a deep seated aversion to Dan Riffle. Riffle is so used to making babies cry, that he has started using his "Evil Spock" disguise.

It's all described in his autobiography, I Am Short Stocky Evil Spock. The book (including photos ) has primarily been used as a way to cure Persistent genital arousal disorder.

I'm quite certain we've discussed this in several threads before and therefore I have most likely wrote the same thing, but I have:

Acrophobia - fear of heights
Aeroacrophobia - fear of high wide open spaces
Arachnophobia - fear of spiders

I'm pretty sure I know where they originated from, too and that is from experiences in my childhood.

Whenever we went to the drive-in, my parents wouldn't let me go on the big silver slide, I always had to play on the little blue elephant one with only three little steps, before the movie started.

They explained it was too high and that I could fall off of it and get hurt.

Shortly thereafter, I started having bad dreams where I climbed all the way up, but when I went to step forward to slide down, I lost my balance and fell backwards off the slide. The trip down always seemed to last forever and I would wake up right before hitting the ground with butterflies in my stomach, gasping for breath and this fear that sent something shooting throughout my limbs making my muscles feel weak. Similar to an adrenaline rush but kind of with nerves involved too.

These are the exact things I feel when I am somewhere high up as an adult!

When we go to amusement parks and get on the tall attractions and rides, I scream and everyone thinks that I'm fun screaming, but I am really scared sh*tless! Sorry, didn't know how else to explain that fear.

But it is real and all encompassing!

Heights, whether I'm in the open or in an enclosed area makes my tummy do flip flops, my heart race, and my palms get all sweaty!

Again, from childhood, fearing spiders. Spiders honestly creep me out! It all started way back when I was a little four year old girl...

Mom had taken us to a flea market and bought me a box of books. I loved to read and she just couldn't keep up with my reading habits with more new books, so decided we'd go and get a huge box of used ones for me from the flea market.

Anyway, on the way home, in the backseat, I was holding the box on my lap admiring all of my books when I noticed a small yellow and beige striped spider peer over the top of the box at me. Before I could even open my mouth to scream, it jumped, yes jumped, not crawled, off the box, onto my shirt, jumped onto my face and then jumped again into my hair.

That scared the heck out me and I started screaming and flailing my arms in complete hysteria. That did it for me. I apparently never got over it.

Hmmm, l used to live on a farm, so daddy long leg spiders were everywhere, (one landed on me once, and like you l went a bit nuts brushing it off). Well they also occasionally crawed over my legs while driving, but after a while you realise they are harmless and fuzzy, and can't really bite, (l still don't like them, but l would say they are more scared of us)?

I also had a centerpieide on me but didn't realise until it bit me a few times, (that seriously freaked me out).

Bats, poisonous snakes, foxes, rabbits, wombats kangaroo,s the list goes on and cockabarra's.

Not really phobia but more of a preference to avoid...

I do not like tight places like coffins. Bat caves (unless a car and a cape comes with that). Deep Sea Diving or Outer Space. I consider my self as Jame Bondsy as the next guy but some situations you're just not going to McGuyver your ass out of.
