Anyone want to talk about my favorite TV Series Game of thones?

    No.

I've tried in the past. There don't appear to be too many people here interested in the show.

No - they would be missing the part of their lives that they spent talking about a TV show.
        That show is awesome!
        I've said that.

For the first time in my adult life I have absolutely no response to that comment.

I'll keep that in mind. In the interim, don't hold your breath.

Now - off you go. Your dragon needs to be fed. :-)

No. I just started watching it this season and while I think it is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen - why would anyone want to talk about it that has a real life to contend with? There are entire web sites dedicated to that.

One question? Are you over 20?

        No, me neither!

But after a heated discussion about this, a while ago, l did watch the intro.

Basically if you are into Medieval stuff, naked scenes, (explains the 20+ audience) and head chopping of who cares characters and a few seasoned ones, for laughs, then it has its appeal!

Australians downloaded it allegially on mass when one came out that we won't get on tv here!

I tried to watch Merlin, but after the first season, and the obvious drag out the concept, til hell freezes over, l went off it!

The dragon was the only thing that kept that one alive?

Your favorite show! No, surprise considering how tv, has gone off the rails, but there is plenty of quality older tv series that are still available.

Least this has to be better than the Hunger Games, l would hang myself from the theater rafters if l saw that one again!

I'm certainly not your average viewer. I couldn't care less about the story line, characters, the books it is based on, the actors - none of that.

I watch shows like this for the production values; costumes, sets, perceived cultural customs and things that most viewers probably only give a passing nod to.

It may be the most beautifully produced show that I have ever seen, but Boardwalk Empire, without all the blood, would give it a good run for it's money. Apples and oranges as far as genre, though.

I certainly do care about all of those things, that's why i don't watch much yhat's put out on TV.

Those are cosmetic matters which enhance a show, but if it ain't got a good story line, acting, etc., then none of those items are going to make me watch a show.

It may be the most beautifully produced show that I have ever seen.
            Can't argue with that.

My favourite TV show of all time (Cracker), is a low budget, brilliantly scripted and just as brilliantly acted show.

I should add that I'm referring to the UK show of that name, and not the US remake which is utter shite. For sme strange reason they just re-did the same plotlines as the UK version, but stripped the characters of everything that made the UK version such a powerful piece of television. Coincidentally the US version had a bigger budget, better production, costumes and sets than the UK version.

If it doesn't have a good script and performances, then you might just as well shut the brain off and watch Dancing With The Stars instead.

Well, I think that most people would agree that the show has all of that, it's just that personally, I couldn't care less. I might feel differently had I watched it from the first season. When I was channel-surfing, I came across the show and was instantly mesmerized by the visuals. I didn't even pay attention to what the characters were saying and I still have no idea what the hell is going on and I truly couldn't care less. I used to have to rely on my dream state for such visuals. No longer. lol

Sure, what about that show do you want to talk about?

GOTs is currently my favorite show on TV. And that last episode with the Whitewalker leaders, the whitewalkers, and the other undead was probably one of my favorite episodes so far.

I like how Aria's story is slowly starting to unfold, actually, I like all the subplots that are going on, though hers is one of my favorites.

I just wish they would show Khalesi more, I've got a mad crush on that woman. I'd take care of her dragons for her. Hahahahaahaha

Well, virtually every show on tv, that the US remade is crap!

Sherlock Holmes, Time Tunnel, Life on Mars, (serious dogs breakfast) and they had a crack at Puriot as well, another dogs... from what l was told.

20 Year old exec, with big budgets, usually stuff up a decent series.

Battlestar was a pretty good remake, and just like Frank l only watched it for the visuals. But got into the story later on and watched it til the end.

I've never understood why they feel a need to do remales. Surely American audiences are sophisticated enough to accept a show with different accents, locations etc.

BTW you left out one show that they remade which would have to raise its standards to even qualify as a dogs breakfast, and that's the Aussie classic comedy Kath and Kim, which took the p*ss out of suburban Australia perfectly.

They remade that one and it was seriously bad. Still, I suppose the show's creators got a payment for the rights to remake it, however I doubt they made much in royalties, as the remake was so bad it only lasted for one episode on US TV.

One show I'm glad they didn't try to remale was Yes Minister/Prime Minister (Yes Congressman?). Can you imagine what a pig's ear Sir Humphrey's character would've turned out like? I shudder at the thought.

Ok, l didn't see many Kath and Kim shows, but from the ones l did see, it had a well laid out story, and depicted the characters perfectly.

I don't remember the US ones, if you have a YT one you can post, by all means, l can take it, (l think)?

Sir Humphrey,....probably a middle aged man, trying to do an English accent, and like most US rehashes, the timing would be off, and the accent, laughable.

But the main thing that is annoying me currently is the constant rehashes of popular motion pictures.

Batman is getting like musical chairs, the actor has changed so many times?

            Spidy, same thing.

And now they have redone Fantastic Four? I suppose that if the franchise runs out of material just redo it, with a different way they mutated, groan.

I won't see that one, the original ones were enough!

They will rehash blockbusters til the cinemas are empty!

Wow, I've never met a GOTs fan who disliked Sansa.

I like Sansa. Are you sure we're watching the same show? A lot of the stuff that happened wasn't in her control ya know.

And clearly, you've watched the latest episodes where Sansa has actually demonstrated that she's a lot smarter and wiser than she used to be. She's definitely not that little girl anymore. It's interesting to see what her and Littlefinger are up to together.

Yes, don't mess with our beloved Mother Of Dragons. I'm on my way to her kingdom so that I can server her. Heheheheeh.

Daenerys certainly has a lot going for her, but, in my view, the only absolutely essential character in the show is Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). In fact, he's good enough for his own spin-off series.

I think you could add Arya Stark to that. Since she ran away from Kings Landing, it was obvious she was being set up for a major role (pun intended) in the final outcome.

I love Sansa. She made some mistakes, but she was totally ignorant, and didn't know what she was doing when she told Cersei what was happening with Ned. She thought life was just a big fairy tale, and she wanted to marry her fairy tale Prince (Joffrey) and she thought her father was ruining it. She didn't realize what she was getting heself and family into when she did that. She was ignorant, and perhaps a bit foolish, but not malicious, in any way....

And Daenerys? She's got nothing going for her. She's way overrated, imo. She's dumb. She makes a lot of impractical, stupid decisions, and overall, I don't think she'll be a decent ruler if her friends manage to win her the Iron Throne. Personally, I'd like to see her get killed off. lol

I thought that everybody has sex, preferably by flickering candlelight, makes some noteworthy remarks and then gets their heads knocked off?

Box of dunuts, Claude! Sound like the Brady Bunch meets Conan after an Ice overdose? Not pretty!

I hope it is like Star Trek, put the disposable ones in Red Shirts and everybody knows that they are next?

At least the attractive women get spared, (well most) have to churn out the next gen, to replace the current ones? And grab some cheap teenager ratings along the way?

Definitely my cup of tea. A bunch of subplots, memorable characters, the author not sticking to the typical plot where the good guys almost always survive the whole story, great writing, awesome directing, amazing costumes, cool sets and wide shots of cool places around the globe, actors who know their craft, intrigue, politics, entertainment, a taste of the magical, sex,and on and on.

I think the killing off of major characters gives the story a sense of added realism and I, for one, don't like predictable plots. So when someone gets killed that I'm not expecting, I may be disappointed for a few seconds, but overall I'm glad. It adds something to the whole series.

There are so many characters and there's so much going on that you can't really summarize the series in one sentence (though the "Everyone dies" idea was pretty clever and funny. I got a laugh out of it).

I realize some people aren't going to like it, but it's a TV show, you don't have to memorize anything. Besides, DVRs exist now. =)

What he did was purely unforgivable. The iron throne's not worth that much... I saw it coming since season 4, when we had that Melisandre bath scene, and Melisandre said to Selyse "She has to come with us, the Lord needs her", etc.

Though, in truth, I conceived of it happening even before, when Ser Davos helped Gendry to escape...

Still, a big part of me thought Stannis would come through for his daughter in the end... Game of Thrones is full of surprises.

And to see Selyse in the end, trying to save her daughter, when it was too late. My respect for Selyse skyrocked, and I just felt bad for the poor woman.

And Daenerys? She's got nothing going for her. She's way overrated, imo. She's
dumb. She makes a lot of impractical, stupid decisions, and overall, I don't
think she'll be a decent ruler if her friends manage to win her the Iron Throne.
Personally, I'd like to see her get killed off. lol
Granted she's made some mistakes, however, she did manage to gather an army and assemble a group of trusted advisors. She also freed a bunch of people and she's trying her best to manage the city she is currently in.

Now that she's got Tyrion advising her, I think she'll do much better.

She's got nothing going for her? I beg to differ. What I find interesting is what role the dragons are going to play when they get bigger. The two that are locked up are still pretty pissed off at her.

And Stannis, yes, he's a piece-of-crap for doing what he did. That was such a sad scene.

Aria's training is taking forever, though, I'm ready to see her kick some ass and become a faceless person.

I love the Game of Thrones! My avatar is a sigil of House Cerwyn, a loyal vassal to the Starks.

Anyway, as for the latest episode, it made me lose my faith in Stannis. He was my favorite character before he sacrificed his own daughter to meet his goals. I would never follow a man who kills his own daughter for god or his own personal gain. Truly disappointed with the turn of events.

At least Cersei would DIE to save her children.... rest assured, Stannis won't be getting Westeros' "Dad of the Year Award".

I only follow the show and not the books. Dany maybe stupid but have you guys considered that she might be the only one who stands a realistic chance against the White Walkers? They are killed by only things dragon and Dany has three of them.

Dany needs to marry Jon and they need to have Targaryen babies.

Have you seen the episode when John Snow killed a Whitewalker with his blade made of Valyrian steel? Dragon glass isn't the only thing that kills them.

Rumor has it that bad breath holds them at bay too. O_o

Isn't Valyrian Steel dragon steel that was mentioned by Sam in one of the episodes? And I don't think an army of men with swords made of Valyrian steel will defeat the walkers.

You bring up a good point. All I know is that it's "forged in dragon fire" and "imbued with spells long forgotten", but I haven't been able to find out how it's actually made in that fictional world and where the "steel" comes from.

My buddy has the Fire & Ice Book written by the GOTs author, I'll check and see if it has the information there.

Targaryen brother sisters marry to keep the line pure. They mentioned this in the beginning. According to a theory, Jon maybe part Targaryen. I don't about Aunt-Nephew marriage though, but I wouldn't be surprised given the nature of the show.

But I am glad that Tyrion is advising Dany. He is one of the two people in the show that has half a brain. The other being Littlefinger. There was Tywin Lannister but he is dead now. But I suspect Oberyn Martell's brother is pretty smart too. Let's see.

It's not a spoiler if it hasn't happened yet. Not even in the book.

Probably, with a little help from an appropriately named friend. Let's just say there's other places he can go. There's more, but I don't want to give away the farm. Of course, it's all conjecture until WoW comes out.

And you should read the books. Martin is long-winded, but the read is worth it.

I hadn't considered Melisandre resurrecting him, though it's convenient that she's at the wall. Still, the actor confirmed that his character WAS indeed toast... he even cut his hair after filming, something he said he couldn't do when he was playing Snow.

That's what they would tell you, isn't it. However, I think it's going to require more than Melisandre.

Although, I didn't say Kit Harington would be back. There's nuance that doesn't necessarily require him. Possibly. But I think what he's saying is entirely smoke screen and he'll be back. Jon and Dani are the Song of Ice and Fire.

It may be, but I doubt it, in this case. There's too many loose ends and too many lead ins untied with Jon dying and staying dead.

John will warg into Ghost to save his soul and not lose a piece of himself, a la Berric Dondarion, and Melisandre will bring him back to life as the reborn Azor Ahai. Melisandre realized she was wrong about Stannis and suddenly the pictures in the fire became clearer. That's why she high-tailed it out of there.

I'd prefer Kit back, too, but I don't know how it will play out in WoW with the rebirth of Azor. Jon could transform into an entirely different person.

Ghost won't bite it yet. Too much was made about Jon being a warg to not use it to pull the plot.

There's precedent of the God of Light raising the dead. I don't remember if it was season 2 or 3, but remember the fight in the cave with the Hound? And he mortally wounded the other guy? And he was then raised from the dead? (It was his 5th time I believe).

With Stannis purportedly dead now, it could be that the visions that she had were wrong about Stannis, and that the one true king is the one who is going to beat the Boltons. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to raise John Snow from the dead, despite what the show is saying.

Too bad we have to wait now until next Spring to see what happened......

So true. I am anticipating next season and find out if Jon is really dead or not, if Sansa was able to escape or not and if Arya is gonna be bind for a long time or if she will get her vision back.

I hope that Jon is really the Azor Ahai that is in the prophesy known by the Red Priestess

If Jon comes back, it'll likely be at the very end of a season. Next season, perhaps, though more likely, I could see him coming back in the season 7 finale.

        That. would. be. Epic.
