It's been waaay too quiet here today and for a lady that likes to conversate, it's down right tortuous, I tell ya!

      Your right, too many plight of my dog threads and not enough pussycat ones. They will attract the men. all men like cats. the dog ones were mostly female dominated but try a cat one and you will see.

      I have two 10 year old female cats, Chuy and Heidi. Highly entertaining creatures. Never owned a dog.

        I've had cats and dogs.

        To me, it's impossible not to love a dog. An animal that loves you unconditionally is close to a miracle to me. I've loved every dog I've ever had.

        But I always found cats more interesting.

        I have a black wild male cat behind my store, that gets into fights, ignores me...and left for a year, because I touched it.

        That cat will never love me, never think of me as a friend or provider. It just hangs around here, because I'm an easy touch to feed it. It won't even come closer to me, to get fed.

        I could die, and the cat wouldn't care.

        I respect that. And there is a part of me that understands that cat.

              I have incredably restrictive access to the features on this forum and cant post pictures in threads. Will see about posting pics somewhere and linking to them. :-)

                I can only post photos from a link also.

                I upload mine to dropbox in the public folder, then I right click and choose the copy public link option, then paste it in the photo link box and well-a!

            It took me a whole day, to get the courage to respond to your hurtful post. I have to hand it to you, you really know where to hit a guy.

          Nothing weird about it. Our dog, Skye, looked for our cat for days after she passed away. Every time someone would say, 'kitty,' Skye would head for the stairs and look up, expecting to see her. They were buddies. And I miss her.

    So, here's one possible reason it's quiet here: I created a post that linked to an offer for a free Fiver gig. With the number of "How Can I Make $5" threads around here, I thought an opportunity to save $5 would be helpful.

    What happens?

    The thread gets deleted and I get threatened to get "disciplined."

    Gotta love this place these days.

        True, since you believe in past lives, l will look back into the distant past and make an observation.

        Well, Dan gave up his life for mine, since there were no more places in the Titanic life rafts, and he was looking for a good reason to end it all, what with the horrible job or cooking dunuts, for commoners and all!

        Yeah, l know that knocking donuts may drive you to the point of going back to a diet of cinnamon donuts with all the caster sugar scraped off, but l have to have some fun!

    Well, gee, Terra - I've been doing nothing. Just working, getting ready to move closer to work where I'll have a rockhound for a roomie.

    Went rock hunting with one of the longest members of my site - he had a stroke a month ago and this was his first time out since. Writing posts to all my other members about how great he's doing. Getting ready to do more hunting this weekend and hoping the rain lets up.

    Nah.......not doing much here.

        My family is coming home tonight. I've been holding down the fort here and caring for the pets while my son, wife, 3 kids and the kids current "significant others" stayed in a huge rental home on the coast of St Croix. Private pool, private beach, kayaks, diving and snorkel equipment (half of them are certified).

        My son hasn't been back to the islands since he left the Hurricane Hunters so he visited old friends and just kicked back. It's a long planned "last family blowout" vacation and they are in Miami right now waiting for flight to Cinci.

        Their son here in ohio (other son and daughter live in Colorado) graduated from high school 2 weeks ago with highest honors and a big supply of academic and sports awards. His girlfriend received her AF Academy appointment from an AF Colonel during the awards ceremony. It was fun because they are such accomplished kids. He starts college in the fall - she starts basic training in 2 weeks.

        I thought I'd have a quiet week - forget it. We're adding a room on the back of the house (with fireplace and walls of windows) so it's contractors working every day with saws and hammers...

          That vacation sounds wonderful. I'm really happy for your family and for you too. Not about all that noise though.

          Next month my brother is coming home from Missouri to visit and his two little ones (well, 12 and 9) will be staying here. Then we're going for our annual anniversary trip the second week in August. No hotel this time, we're taking Lexi with us, so we'll be camping on the West side of the state. I haven't camped in years. It should be fun! Except if it storms! Yikes! I didn't think of that before.

          And if that isn't busy enough, Bill's dad is coming from Florida for the whole month of August, but they stay in a condo on a small private lake about 12 miles from here, not in the house.

          I'll be getting super busy shortly. But of course, I'll pop in here when I can.

            I'm glad you are taking Lexi with you - it's good to socialize when she's a pup and she'll have fun.

            If you do a google search for

            list of dog friendly hotels

            Might be good to have the name and phone number of a pet-friendly motel int he area in case there are storms and camping gets dicey.

            I was happy for my son and daughter-in-law. They work hard and are so conscientious about their careers - they were ready for a feet in the sand, beer in the hand vacation.

            It's nice to have visitors who stay elsewhere - I think you enjoy them more. If they stay at the lake - gives you an excuse to take Lexi swimming!
