Oh get over it. Do you really think he spent all those years learning his field because he found it boring or objectionable? I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who just got a job in a field their interest is that strong in. He's going to love his work no matter who the hell owns the company and his salary will be sufficient enough that smart investing will do the rest for him.

"I am quite pleased with what has transpired. I landed the job after only my second interview. I was initially rejected due to my lack of prior experience. There wasn't anything I could do about that.

An unsuspecting hospital has hired me to work in their microbiology lab and has offered me continuing education to help me increase my knowledge in the hope that I will become a more valuable asset.

I was highly doubtful that I would actual find a position in my major area of study, but there does seem to be opportunity in life if one truly applies themselves."

Sorry - previous is redundant, whereas the other forms of experience you list are not redundant, they are qualifying (classifiers).

However - for a resume, you want "peripheral experience" since you can't talk about direct experience other than the classroom.

  Seriously. You do realize I spent my first 2 years in school studying to become a politician? I probably would have been good at it. I was elected to the Chief Justice position on the college student government without even running for it.
  Hind sight is 20/20 - but still - I like having normal blood pressure so probably made the right choice getting out of it.

Wrong again, Frank. He wouldn't have been rejected for a lack of...inadequate...non-related experience. You're grasping at straws that just aren't there. He would be rejected for a lack of experience and, since all experience is prior, prior is redundant.

Still - not bad for dropping out of high school at 16 and getting my GED in Vietnam. :-)

I disagree. Entrepreneurial success can still be attained by any idiot that can keep the drool cup, firmly attached. No formal education required.

I became depressed while everyone around me were becoming millionaires. Does that count? :-)

It can still be done, yes. But I don't think that "just anyone" can do it. Sometimes education isn't the only factor to success. Other than online, the price of getting something going is becoming higher every other month. What I could have started 10 years ago is now about 20 times more expensive to do. Back then I didn't have the proper connections, now that I do, the price is prohibitive. I can solve that, but it's going to take a few years longer yet. The brick and mortar bureaucracy has become one hella expensive maze to run.

Agreed. If that were the case all the kids in the main section would be Internet gazillionaires, by now.
