Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

Given that the title of the video is "The Sherlock Special", the BBC logo at the start and it ending with the words "Coming Soon", I deduce that it's a one off special that the BBC will be airing sometime in the near future.

        Elementary, my dear Whitacre.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Apparently the only info available is that it's a special, and it's coming soon...ish. There's another clip on the BBC site - not sure if anyone outside the UK can see it:

BBC One - Sherlock, First look at the Sherlock Special

Because you included facts, brought about a conclusion, and wrote it as an insult. I deduce that you were smiling the whole time you wrote it.

          Very nicely done.

By the way, Benedict Cumberbatch is going to play Doctor Strange in a New Marvel film. I hope you're happy.

Claude, you really have to stop talking about me when you're really talking about yourself. It's getting a little creepy.

I think it was a great move.

By the way, is "Benedict Cumberbatch" the most English name possible? It just sounds like a person who spends most of his day steeping tea and responding to everything you say with, "Well, that's sure a sticky wicket, guvnuh."

That's the first time I had heard that name. Not even the first name or the second separated, I had never encountered them at all.

The sticky wicket stuff was more first to second world war era and middle to upper class speak. Saying Governor was lower class speak, you mixed the two.

Talking like that in the UK is pretty much extinct Old Bean.

Of course, you wouldn't think it sounds extra Englishy.

Apparently, though, you agree that most Englishmen spend most of their day steeping tea.

Oh it sounds very Englishy, I just never encountered it so perhaps it is not common.

Tea, I just spent just under 10 bucks buying a box of English, Brook Bond PG Tips (80 pyramid shaped bags) to get a decent spot of Tiffin in the morning. I just pop one in the Krueg, makes a decent, perfect hot cuppa tea in a jiffy.

                  Oh, I'm going all Englishy?

Me too. He seems to be an obvious choice for Doctor Strange. And he makes a great Holmes. I always thought he could be a formidable Bond villain.

But unfortunately, and I hate to break this to you....he is married.

Oh, base him in the century that the stories were written in and reference. Highly original. Probably great but hopefully a one off. I rather like him based in modern times, modern crimes, hey, that rhymes.

  • You mean Mmmmmmmm.

Jeez, imagine the guy explainin' missions and shit, all plummy and bardic.

"...and that that deadly weapon of yours, dear Bond, is so awfully powerful and destructive that it really would be a shame not to deploy it against the villains at the first opportunity."

(I figure Craig's droolin' here, tongue flappin' on his chest, so he rolls his eyes and says...)

"For heaven's sake, M, I simply can't contain myself any longer. Put down your spectacles and let me feel the caress of your lips on my neck."
