Ron Paul - and the announcement was????

After almost of week of saying "announcement is coming" - I guess the great news Paul mentioned was last night where he asked his followers to vote for Nader, Barr or another independent candidate.

Not because they have a good agenda - or have plans that are realistic - but because they aren't the Republican or Democratic candidate.

Bob Barr didn't attend the speech and was quote as "it's not worth the time". May be the first time I've ever agreed with Bob Barr.

This is the only "news" announcement I can find that Paul made last night - on his blog it still talks about the "upcoming announcement" on Sept 10.

Sal- have you found anything announced other than this?

I asked the same question. I couldn't get a straight answer. But I was told that he and his family were threatened by the Republican camp. Don't know if that is true, so don't take it as gospel.

Wouldn't doubt it. Our government runs like the mafia any more. Paul's wife was just released from the hospital but I didn't hear what she is sick with - might be a reason there that he is off the ballot.

What we might wanna notice though, is that he had some pretty good coverage when TPTB thought we'd laugh at him. When he started winning voters over left and right he was completely silenced in the media and even on the Internet sites promoting him were being tampered with. Now he is off the ballot he is getting press again. Maybe he just feels he can accomplish more this way.

That should tell us that we have not been "allowed" to vote for him. We need to get together BIG and vote third party and show them that we will vote for who we think is best whether they want to interfere or not. Maybe if Baldwin were to win the election by our votes and they put in another ringer on us like they did Bush, people would finally get the clue and take some action in a mass large enough to make a damned difference. There are now lawsuits against the diebolts, against people who helped stuff the boxes last election, a movement to put in paper (can still be miscounted but at least a step in the right direction).

We need not only people to vote third party - we need people to start writing strongly enforce to their legislators and ask them what they have done to secure the ballots in their area.

In the East here, don't remember which state, one county recorded NO votes for RP in one of the primaries - and one woman knew several who had voted for him. They made some LOUD noise over it and the investigation revealed votes not recorded - the responsible clerk said "oops". That was just one instance - so lets get busy and write and ask you local leaders "who is my local Diebolt voting for?" Maybe they will get the message and clean their acts up before we get sunk with THEIR choices again.

I can imagine from the police actions at the RNC that he may fear for his life.

        Watch the video again.
He's not running because he knows the elections as they are presented to us are a sham. Hear what he said about the debates. Those that set them up and make the rules are the former heads of the 2 parties.
He was already hinting he was going to concentrate on keeping his seat in congress same as Dennis Kucinich, I got that from either an email from him or his MySpace blog (I'm on his mailing list and friends list at MySpace).
What I got from the video is election reform, so there is an even playing field for all the major candidates and not just the 2 parties. He see's it isn't there yet but is coming. He was calling for the 60% of the Americans who are old enough to vote but either don't or vote third party to make a stand and say "we've had enough".
Can you imagine the impact if 60% of Americans eligible to vote got of their asses and actually voted "non of the above"? How many out there don't even bother to vote because they think it doesn't matter?

People that don't or won't vote really frost my ass. They bitch and moan about the government, yet do they really think things will change because they have a little hissy fit?
There's only one type of rebellion that will change what goes on in Washington and that one has to take place in the voting booths.

People that already vote have to stop listening to the parrots that say "voting for a third party candidate is wasting your vote" which is also followed by "you're just taking votes away from (insert you're major party candidate here). Exactly that's why you vote third party or none of the above.

The way I see it if you vote Democrat or Republican because you think they are the lesser of two evils or you don't vote at all then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

            Thanks Dorothy.
I liked the part where he talked about McCain's staff member calling him and asking him to endorse McCain because he was the lesser of two evils.
That one line spoke volumes to me.
I don't see much changing this year but I believe there is hope.
We need to keep the momentum going and convince people there can be change but we are the ones who need to change if we expect our government to.
People need to understand that our government is a reflection of us.
The politicians know what we want to hear and know they don't have to do what they said that got them elected.
On the Daily show they compared McCains exceptance speech to Bush's when he first ran and they where pretty much identical. In fact one line they had both speaking at the same time and it was the same.
The two parties have this country brainwashed and lulled into believing they are for change. I for one don't want change, I want things the way they where when our country was based on the Constitution.
Wait I guess that would be a change

Thanks Tom. I did listen but didn't put what he said together with why he is not running.

Since I am in the 60% who cast a vote of no confidence by not voting, and still don't believe my vote counts, I have to ask you this:

Isn't he saying the same thing? He is not running because there is not a level playing field? Because the 3rd party doesn't have a shot?

I am disappointed because I actually would have voted for him. I actually would have dragged my hissy fitting ass to the polls. Would have been only the 2nd time in my lifetime.

    Oh well maybe next time.

It's not a level playing field because of the minority that do vote for either the Democrat or Republican. Then there is the smaller minority that votes for a third party candidate or none of the above. Then there is the majority that don't vote at all because they figure a third party candidate doesn't have a shot.
