I deleted all my thread subscriptions so I wouldn't have to look at that goofy number for threads I subscribed in 2012 only to be bumped by India spammers in 2015.

Is there any way to circumvent that damn thing? I don't see any selections in the user CP that turns off subscribing to threads or turning off notifications.

I hate that bell with such a passion I refer to it as the Claudicon.

mine 'bell' is 546 - it's been 546 every day....no matter how many 'subscriptions' (that I didn't sign up for) I delete....it stays at 546.

What happened a while back (can't remember which version of the WF we were on then) - was any thread we posted in was automatically added as "subscribed". Anyone else remember when we talked about that happening?

It's a non issue for me (or was till this annoying bell thingie) - as I disabled emails so the "subscribed list" is not something I ever look at.

If you click "mark all as read" (after you click on the bell) then it should reset it back to zero. If you've already done that, then I've no idea.

Hi Jason:

I did that earlier. It deleted all old subscriptions, but continues to add new ones (such as this thread). It seems to do it automatically with no way to shut off the automatic additions.

What FL has done is add a totally useless and meaningless "factoid" to the home page. Take up real estate - adds nothing. That entire top black bar is useless - I KNOW my name, I own my Avatar, and I can check messages if I choose to.

I "unsubscribed from all subscriptions" last night...today the "bell" is 10+ (what's the 'plus'?) but clicking it brings up the same 548 or whatever I had yesterday.

Someone overthought this new layout...but at least Daniel listened and got the breadcrumbs back.

As for the avatar in the bubble, I discussed this in another thread Kay. It's so you remember visually which account you are logged into and who you are posting as.

They seem to be stuck on design ... as if design is the problem with the forum and they can fix it.

Design is not the problem with the forum and they can't fix it unless they "ungrowth hack" the forum with massive removal of the spam and barely intelligible posters they recruited. That would be a good start, but probably wouldn't bring back all the valuable people who left this forum.

There is another change under way in design and I don't know how many already can see it, but if it stays and actually replaces the way we read the forum, many more valuable people will likely leave.

I really don't think they at all understand the purpose of an Internet Marketing forum and are trying "glitz" instead of returning the forum to a place for Internet Marketers to network with each other, to help others in the process and to make money.

I find the whole new layout annoying. It took me awhile the other day to figure out how to click back to the OT without doing the back button. I wish I could figure out what the heck their point is. I can't find any of my pics I had on file - and they destroyed that beautiful profile design and coloring I did and I was really proud of it. People actually wrote on my messages there how pretty it was. I'm not an artistically talented person so that was a real special accomplishment for me...............and I lost my pearl background which I'll never get back because of my hard drive crash.........

I just know in the past the subscribed threads all hid nicely in the back end so I didn't have to worry about it.

That's not happening for me when I reply to threads.

Check "edit options" (under User CP) and look for "Default Thread Subscription Mode" - make sure that's set to "do not subscribe" and see if that fixes it.

I was using the Mark All as Read feature of the bell, but I don't want to have to do that, so I am now going to ignore it and see just how High the Bell Does Toll.

The Mark All Read thingee on my bell quit working now. It is stuck at 10. They must be working on stuff.

It's also irritating that clicking on a link opens in a new window.

Hopefully they get some of the non user friendly things worked out soon.

  ... and that is the problem with the notification both here and in Facebook ... a notification icon that I also ignore completely. The number is out of kilter. I'm only participating in a couple of threads and yet, there's hundreds of notifications.
  
  Sorry, but I'm not going to go through all that crap and spend time maintaining it by marking them as read or reading them.
  
  As you can probably see, there's now a great big ole ad on the first page at the end of the list for the War Room, so this is just another ad delivery gimmick. You'd think they could turn it off for those who are already War Room members, but no ... it will be there or another ad forever.
