    I'd say he just learned why you don't drive and sit in the middle of the crosswalk.

      Years ago a friend told me "when in doubt, go faster."
      Surprisingly that advice has saved my ass more then once. In recent years it kept me from being hit in the rear by a guy running a stop sign and getting t-boned by a kid pulling out from a side street without stopping or looking for traffic.

        About a year ago I was driving down the interstate with a semi truck in front of me, all of a sudden the semi truck swerves as he's locking up his trailer brakes. The trailer the semi was pulling runs over a huge wood pallet & flips the pallet up in the air as high as my hood/windshield. The wooden pallet looked like one of those big pallets that a motorcycle is shipped on. I swerve my vehicle to the side of the road and at the same time looking in my rear view mirror notice another semi behind me had smoke rolling off his tires where he was slamming on his brakes. I punched the gas and was redlining the tach. for about a half mile on the shoulder of the road to get away from those trucks. I was not going to be a semi truck sandwich.
