I think Dennis had the perfect thought on the matter.

I think the issue needs addressing in general.

As Dennis mentioned, it could start a very bad trend.

It's bad form IMO, but I'm unable to find it being against forum rules.

I might actually read those posts if I could actually look at them.

Agreed, it could... but right now, she appears to be the only one doing this.

Do you forget whom you are addressing? I AM Princess Snarky.

It is my duty to be snarky.

Also, I am considering posting in green comic sans extra large letters.

I'm not certain there was ever really a rule about it in posts. We could use red to highlight some words and I like that. We could use grey to lighten some words to sneak words in and I like that. The pink lady is rather juvenile and I think that a mod should just tell her to can the pink and only use colors to emphasize a word now and then.

Yes, a mod needs to do it.

But you know she's not the only one.

I'm not talking about the pink, but a font change up for posts.

This I've seen from different members in the past too. It's not nearly as obnoxious, but it too can be annoying.

          That's for sure.
There is a rule about having to be 18 to use the forum.
Surely that should mean acting like it too.

It's time the mods gave Claude his own personal font.

I figure it would be generous an' rounded, with delicate serifs an' a treasure trove of wingdings.

Is this (colored font) only being done when there is a quote from another post?

Might be a newbie who has seen people change font color to answer points within the quote and mistakenly thought that was the professional way to answer a quote.

Could just be a young newb that thinks a style like such is a helpful branding tool. Just have to watch and see how long it takes them to figure out that it's not going to be a positive brand for them.

Yeah - I copied my answer to the other thread, but ......well.....tough. Below is new.

Actually, I don't believe rules for posts encompass font or size - other than in the sig files. Don't really think they need to. Let people use any crappy color or font they want to. When they find it's not really working for them, they'll get over it. My personal opinion is that they aren't harming anything, are probably young, and will get over it soon enough anyway.

But DO NOT ask for more rules! It is a very bad precedence to set to run and ask for more rules every time you don't like something someone does. Sometime that device might actually come in handy for something and if someone's actually started a bandwagon to "outlaw" the style, then you're screwed. We're adults here and shouuld be able to educate and police our own crowd to an extent for little stupid stuff they do. This whole issue about fonts and rules in posts might have been more damaging to a community ethos than the "infraction" being discussed.

In the old days, the font color rule only applied to sig files. Same with size, however, having the ability to change the font size and/or color was intended for special emphasis, not for regular, everyday posts. The mods used to contact users who used size and color changes to excess and ask them to stop. Otherwise, the forum starts looking like a cartoon strip rather than a business forum. If they didn't comply, they would soon find their posts being deleted. Compliance usually followed.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

It surprises me to think anyone would have ever regularly used such a tactic - other than for reasons I listed. Seems like the resultant comments in their threads would have been enough to deter the practice.
