Turned "Protected Mode" Off In IE8; Now It Won't Turn On Again...

Hello Warriors:

I turned off the protected mode in IE8 a few days ago (not even sure why, now!) but now it won't go back on again, even after re-starting it (and even if I re-set everything to the default level).

Has anyone got any idea how to rectify this?

    Get firefox? New computer? LOL.

    You might wanna scan your machine for spyware and viruses, too.

    MAYBE you can run it as admin, and turn it back on. If I wrote the software as a vista product, that is what I would do on vista. of course, that DOES create potential setting problems, and THAT might be why you are looked out. Try running as admin though. On vista, it is right click the program and select "run as admin".

      Tried that but same result. That said, in the 'Security' tab on 'Internet Options', it's showing as already enabled, just not so on the status bar.

      I did some googling on the problem and came across a few other people with a similar problems but, alas, not obvious solution.
