Please help me with this hardware issue!

I am having a desktop with ASUS motherboard,samsung monitor and AMD processor.Whenever i am switching it on the red light of the hard disk(which usually blinks when the hard disk is busy) is glowing continously but the green light of the "Power On" button is not coming on, the result is there is no display in the monitor.But there is power in the motherboard and cooler fans of the processor and cabinet are working fine.I have checked the monitor,RAM its working fine.Some times the computer turns on but others it not switching on.Whats the problem and how can i sort it out?

    when you say you have checked the monitor, do you mean you have check the video card as well

    Could you post your computer specs here please?

    you say sometime the computer turns on, have you run any diagnostic tools when you where able to turn it on?

      TPFLegionaire is right. First check the cables which are going to the monitor.Then Video card ,memory and finally hard disk.
