Hi All,

An observation: I've noticed posts I made prior to (just recently) setting up my signature do not display the signature... only posts made afterward display the signature.

Can anyone say if that's how signatures in forums usually work?

I thought signatures might be retroactive, i.e. display in posts made even prior to a signature first being set up.

Thanks,
Fabian

depends on the software - but vbulletin works like this iirc, which is why I have a nothing remark as a siggy, just in case I ever decide to put up a WSO or something and want it put into all my posts retroactively.

      Thanks, John,

Interesting. Would have been nice to be aware of that earlier on.

TBH I could be wrong, but having used other forums that use Vbulletin it is something I noticed on them and assumed it was a software thing and so would be the same here.

Maybe somebody a bit more technical minded than me could explain it.

EDIT: BTW Everytime you edit your signature it will show in ALL posts you have made since setting up your sig... it is only those that you made without a sig file that won't be altered

      Hey turkdason;

There are a number of fundamental reasons a forum member places a link in their signature. Then, as in all situations, there is a mix of those reasons causing a person to specify one particular link over others.

Some fundamental reasons; just "off the top of my head":
      1. Sell something using an affiliate link.
      2. Show something such as a photo library.
      3. Share something such as an article of interest.
      4. Persuade the reader using a link to a political campaign.
      5. Encourage the reader in a particular direction using a self-help link.

      All the best,

I don't believe this is allowed on this forum in fact.
