Hey, guys. This introduction is long overdue. I have been lurking around these forums off and on for about four months. Until now, I have only watched and observed. This seems like an interesting place to read, learn and grow.

I know making money online won't be easy. Rather, building a sustainable source of income will be a long, challenging journey full of ups and downs. There will be many obstacles, setbacks and disappointments.

However, those difficulties could be a blessing in disguise.
Since internet marketing is challenging, most people give up. That means there is a potential gold mine for those who stick to the grind, right? Success is never guaranteed, but things are always hopeful.

Besides, what else could we do that is more valuable them self-improvement? I view money more as a means to an end, not the goal. Working for yourself gives you, I speculate, freedom and independence. The reward you receive is proportional to the effort you put in.

I first earned money online about six months ago, a breathtaking $1.98. It was for an article I wrote on a content mill. It was not much, but it showed me something; it showed me that it is possible for *me* to earn money online from my laptop. That small deposit into my PayPal account was both motivating and inspiring. I become obsessed with the idea of earning online.

Needless to say, the glamor faded away. I was getting burnt out spending hours hacking away at my keyboard for a meager .7 cents per word. But I was not ready to throw in the towel. I did some research and found that I could make notably more writing on other markets.

Depending on the day, and how cooperative my brain is feeling, I earn roughly $8 to $10 per hour. Nothing to write home about, but if you came to me last year and told me I would soon be making $10 an hour online, I would have called you a liar.

In an attempt to increase my earning power, I recently submitted a sample to Constant Content. They told me I would get a reply within a week if I were accepted. A week came and past. I was disappointed that I did not hear back from them, but I accepted it. I checked my email a few days after I had all but forgotten about Constant Content when I noticed they emailed me. It turns out they accepted my sample and gave me an author account.

I finally worked up the courage to submit my first article, and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I guess it will either work out, and I will have another income opportunity, or I will have my account closed and learn something.

Either way, I want to find a method to earn money on my own. I believe I am a decent writer, but to call myself a professional would be a stretch. It seems my best option would be to find an affiliate product to promote and create a website on a related topic. I would then post informative articles that discreetly point to my affiliate offer.

Now, I don't know much about traffic generation. I have read that article submissions still work, but I have my doubts. If Google penalizes websites that use duplicate content, I don't think anyone would post that type of content on their website.

Well, let's see how this experiment of mine works out. That's all I got for know, until next time.

Interesting story and welcome to the forum and you interacting with it. The more you write, the better you get at it. I am not a writer or anything like that, my interests lie elsewhere, but I had poor communication skills back in 1998 when I started communicating by email. It has improved a little just by doing it. Still a way to go though.

Nothing wrong with the piece you wrote above.

If that is your forte you may consider investing in a speech dictation program like Dragon. It could improve your productivity and output.

    Best of luck.
