You can turn the notification off. Unfortunately, I don't remember how it's done, but at least you know it can be done. You can probably Google it.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Just up load to Windows 10.. I installed it on a lap top using Windows 8 and it 100% better. But I accidently hit it on my Desktop and it installed Windows 10 on top of Windows 7 and the computer seems to be running smoother.

Note the desktop is less then a year old and was set up to be upgraded to 10 once it was release. Waited a long time to upgrade it to let Microsoft get the bugs out. So just do it as Nike says

Absolutely not. No. I will never update an MS based operating system ever again. When I get a new computer, I will install Windows10 on it. I run a business, I can not be jacking around for days trying to figure out solutions to stuff that broke. I could lose more money then the entire computer is worth. It's bad enough that hard drives and other components break.

ROFL man... Seriously laughing pretty hard at that advice. My entire desktop and computer are 100% setup for marketing. I do nothing else on this machine besides open a private browsing window and post on here. When I update machines I put them side by side and slowly transition from one machine to the other over about 6 weeks.

        Option 3 seems effective.

DWolfe, do you like it better than Windows 7 (in terms of user-friendliness and functionality)?

I keep thinking I should probably just go ahead and update while it's still free, but worry that I'll have a hard time figuring out (technically challenged here!) and deeply regret upgrading - especially after hearing so many people say they hated Windows 8.

I upgraded my "work" computer and my wife's computer to W10. I'm not a fan of the new structure so I installed a new start menu that makes W10 function more like W7. I think it costs $5 and it's money worth spending if you prefer the comforts of the familiar as I do:

          Start10: Software from Stardock Corporation

Thanks, Dan! That's exactly what I need. Maybe I'll take the leap and upgrade.

(If I completely disappear from the forum, you'll know the upgrade didn't go well....)

Now, if you could just help me out on why my expensive Nighthawk AC1900 router fails to connect to 5g wireless or drops out of it after 24 hours, I would be eternally grateful.

PS I use windows 7 at work, Windows Bottleneck I call it.

I had a 5g wireless that would drop the connection quite often.
Drove me NUTS. I thought one of the repeaters were going bad.

Turns out it was getting its signals crossed somehow with the neighbors 5g

We both changed the signal in our routers to different bandwidths and told
them not to auto lock/find one ... and voila.

          - maybe that info will help with your issue.

Very droll. It's probably due to the hardware (all of it) getting a bit long in the tooth.

Have you tried switching it off and on again?

That's actually the only thing that brings it back for a while, a reset.
