What is the best tactic out of these two options to pay off debt?

1. Snowball Tactic- meaning pay off smallest debts off first in order from smallest to biggest.

2. High Interest Tactic- meaning paying off debt in order from Highest Interest to Lowest interest.

Simple, payoff the smaller debts first & roll all those payments into the larger longer term debt/s until all the debts are paid.

Regardless of what you do, If you have a car payment that should one of the first things you payoff. If it's an expensive car sell it & buy a cheap car that will get you from point A to point B. Take that money from the higher car payment & roll it into other debt that you want payed off.

You can read all the guru blogs/books but they'll try to get you to spend more money on their products which defeats the purpose of paying down debt. It's not complicated, whittle away at smaller bills & keep working towards paying off the larger bills.

When I say payoff off smaller bills & roll that into larger bills I mean use the previous bill/s money to pay into the larger bill/s principle, not the larger bills regular payment. There's a HUGE difference, principle pays off the debt while regular payments pay into an interest rate.

If you have credit cards, cut them up & throw them in the trash.

If you don't have self control then none of this matters.

Debt free since 2009, no mortgage, no car payments.

No way is she getting access to the card. Just going to let the unused credit utilization help.

She still legally has a right to use the card numbers (online, etc...) & nothing you can do about it If she maxed out the account.

From what you've posted on this forum it looks like you care more about her credit than she does.

Thank you - I've been reading the "but don't give her a card" and shaking my head.

You are AUTHORIZING her as someone who can USE your credit acct. At the very least - set an alert that will notify you every time something is charged to that acct.

That way you get dinged on your phone any time a charge is made to that acct - you can immediately log in and see what was purchased and where. Do that and if there is a problem you can catch it quickly.
