Think YOUR Music Is The Best?

I don't want this thread to get into a musical lesson, because that's just
going to bore people to death, but I got a news flash for anybody who is into
any kind of music at all.

If you think YOUR music is the best and other forms are not as good, if you
are so inclined, sit down with one of your favorite songs and if you pull it
apart, you will see that it is some derivative of a musical influence (classical,
jazz, blues, etc.) that was around long before YOUR music ever came to be.

And if you want to compare the ancient classics, the ones I just mentioned,
if you really tear tonality apart, you will see that there is nothing that is
truly unique to itself.

In an episode of "Outer Limits", David McCallum played a guy who ended up
evolving to some insane level. In one scene where he is playing what he
calls a simple etude, he comments, "Man does not create. He procreates".

And that is a big difference.

Somewhere before YOUR music came into being, there was something
before it that led the way.

And this will continue until this rock turns to a cold stone.

    Absolutely 100% correct.
I've always enjoyed finding the influences for whatever group or singer I'm into at the moment and checking them out and then checking their influences out. It's always amazing to me the path you end up on.

True. Aside from primitive percussions, I believe all forms of music came from birds, animals, trees, or nature in general. Nature is the ultimate influence of all musical influences.
