Serious Question: Why Are You Here?

I have a question for you Warriors...

Why are you here? Is it because you want to build a long-term sustainable business or are you just looking to generate some fast cash to deal with a situation you are in right now?

It's a serious question, and I'm asking it following a discussion I was having with someone in another section of this forum.

I was discussing building a business based on your skills, experiences and interest Vs. just trying to pick a 'system' you think can produce fast cash.

It was suggested to me that members of this forum were only looking for quick cash. They have little interest at this time of building a long term business.

Is that true because that's not my experience?

I got my start this forum as did many of the names we are all familiar with in the IM space. I've also worked with many members over the years and in my experience, they all wanted to build a long term business, based on something they enjoyed that offered value to the marketplace.

So I'm curious to know is that the case for you or not?

I'm asking because either way; I'd like to give back and offer advice that may help, but there would be little point me talking about the steps needed to create a sustainable long term business if that is not what people are here for in the first place.

So, why are YOU here? Is it to build a long-term business or to generate some fast cash?

At the moment i'm brand new to this and i'm just browsing the Warrior Forum for some ideas and advice.

Would love to get started and create a long term business structure but i don't want to rush into it and start selling products or updating a blog without fully understanding how things work in the IM world - I don't want to gain a bad reputation for poor products / websites!

Thanks for your reply. You are totally right to make sure that you create products/services that are of top quality, in the end, that is what will provide you with long-term success.

As well as browsing for ideas also take a look at what you think is missing, what product/service would you like to use? Don't underestimate skills etc that you already possess as that may be the easiest and most enjoyable way forward.

      Good luck!

Build a long term business that lasts.

That has always been the goal and always will be.
That is the only way to do it if you are reaching for true success.

Get rich fast is a fantasy. There is no such thing (unless you win the lottery)

Any business takes time, and the fact that it is an online business won't make it any faster.

    Persistence and determination!

I guess for me it's kind of both.

I would love to be doing IM for the long term. I've seen systems that advertise being able to build a business around your interests, but they mostly tend to devolve into "pick a niche whether you're interested in it or not".

On the other hand, some fast cash would definitely help; to spur more motivation and help cover some of the costs (paid advertising, hosting, relevant WSOs, etc).

In my experience creating fast cash and building a long term business require very different approaches but they do have some things in common. Such as creating an offer of value that is worth more than you are charging.

I think picking a niche you have no interest in is going to be hard to sustain. You may see success but staying motivated may be an issue if the topic bores you.

The greatest successes I've had in business have always come from working in areas I have a keen interest in.

      Best of luck to you!

I subscribed to this forum to learn about Online marketing when I broke my leg doing Muay Thai (couldn't work anymore).

Now I come here mostly to get new leads and make more money, and get ideas by reading threads on what are the new trends in online marketing.

It is also a good way to take a break. I usually work in block of 50 minutes then take a short brake. During that short brake, I sometimes like to come here.

Cool. Oddly enough it was because of a broken leg that I too started to look at the online world many years ago! I'd love to say it was from doing similar exercise to you but I actually fell over a broken step while carrying a sunbed on vacation

I've tried various 'blocking' techniques but they all go out the window when I'm in flow!

Have you read this forum? If so, you wouldn't have to ask.

My estimate based on years of experience is 98% / 2%. The 2% being people who actually understand the concept of a sustainable online business.

The big goal is a stable long term business (or businesses)

At the same time, some short term (legit) ideas that generate enough money can be good once and a while too.. (trends, etc)

  • @ mark_austin,

I am here to meet, learn, share and interact with beautiful human beings.

    Few thoughts to ponder :
    1. "Relationships" is what it is. Long or Short is the result of interest that gathers around the relationships.
    2. I have said this on other thread, Money is the derivative of things we do its not quick or long.

I'm here mainly because it's a bad habit. I amount of value I get from this place isn't proportionate to the amount of time I spend here. Honestly, I should probably stop coming here.

Like all platforms, it's all too easy to get sucked in and lose hours of your day. It could be that the value you seek may come from popping in here to ask questions when you need help rather than just catching up on the latest threads.

      Good luck!

I doubt it. I have a supplement company. Back in the day, there was valuable information to be had when I was starting up and WF seemingly had more experienced members. I don't think it's ever been one of the more talked about topics here. But, I was able to take unrelated info and apply it to my business in those stages. Now, we're established and kind of run on auto-pilot for lack of a better word. But, as you said, most people here seem to be looking for the easy button.

By no means do I waste hours a day here. Probably closer 10-20 minutes a day on average.

Being in it for the long haul, building day by day, is far more satisfying than any means of quick cash. Taking a step back and looking at something sustainable that you've built is by far the most rewarding experience. It's sad that some people just want the easy fix.

Given that I've been a member here for 9+ years, and have been working online since the mid 1990s, I'm going to say "long term."

Why do I come to Warrior Forum specifically?

I like sharing what I've learned here because it helps me keep my thoughts organized. Basically, if I can present something well enough for people to learn from it, it means I understand it myself.

When I returned to college for that last time, I took a refresher math class. I ended up running tutoring and test prep sessions for the class. Over the quarter, with weekly quizzes, a midterm and final, I missed exactly one point (dropped a decimal and forgot to pick it up). The instructor graded on a curve, and after the first few weeks excluded me when doing the calculation.

I also like to shoot the breeze with a handful of people here.

JC, ask lottery winners how long they played the numbers before finally hitting the jackpot. Hint - the answer will be in years most of the time.

I'm here to learn as much as I can. I've never made any money with IM. tired a few things here and there but it seems I'm not doing it right. Now, I'm just gathering information so that one day I can build a business focused on providing services to my targeted market area. Services that will keep them coming back. I have some good ideas I just need to know the "HOW" to build a proper website and "HOW" to gain traffic. I know people on here have asked hundreds of questions so Warrior Forum is my base center for learning how to build a business. I'm sure the experienced warriors are not going to give me a slice of their bread but I will take the bread crumbs and move forward from there.

Thanks for the question. I am here to learn more about CPM traffic. I was doing affiliate marketing and I have now moved to selling traffic, on a CPM basis - I am keen to understand what verticals work well with CPM as opposed to CPL or CPA - all and any advice will be highly appriciated
