Hey
I really hope someone can help me with this I'm looking for a legal way to download (or record or whatever it's called) some songs and playlists from spotify and then convert those into mp3 files. Simple as that. What for? See, my mp3 player is to old for this new-fancy-I-need-an-app-for-ever-single-step-of-my-gorgeous-life-thing. Therefore I need some program or software or whatever will help me achieve my adventurous aim So why not ask some warriors here, they surely have a good answer for me I would be so glad if someone could help me! Thanks!

Yeah you are looking for a recording software. They operate on recording what you are streaming on your computer (like modern VCR). Good ones do cost a little money but are mostly worth it. I would recommend tunebite premium, it's the cheapest software right now (only 19,90 ) and achieves best possible outcomes. E.g. you can easily pick from the platform you want to record (on your case Spotify) and then it records and converts (you can also pick this, your case mp3) in double speed. Quality stays same as from the platform you captured your streams, so in my experience spotify is always really good. But you get more information on their website here http://audials.com/en/how_to_record_...s/spotify.html
There is also a easy how-to-tutorial, so no further technological knowledge needed

A simple Google search shows ways to record Spotify. However, doing so is against Spotify's terms of service:

    Section 8 of the TOS:
"The following is not permitted for any reason whatsoever:

copying, redistributing, reproducing, “ripping”, recording, transferring, performing or displaying to the public, broadcasting, or making available to the public any part of the Spotify Service or the Content, or otherwise making any use of the Spotify Service or the Content which is not expressly permitted under the Agreements or applicable law or which otherwise infringes the intellectual property rights (such as copyright) in the Spotify Service or the Content or any part of it;"

Yes it is mentioned in almost every site but to be really honest there is nothing to worry if you are recording the music from streaming site. I have recorded a lot of software using Cinch Audio Recorder for Windows and Wondershare Audio Recorder for my Mac.

If you are looking for recommended software then I strongly recommend both these software:-

All I would say is record it but never try to download them.

      Good Luck

Since you're a proponent of stealing content, I guess you wouldn't mind if I copied (not downloaded...) everything from your website and freely used it.

And your legal opinion is based on what, exactly?

Under federal law, the recording companies were entitled to $750 to $30,000 per infringement. But the law allows as much as $150,000 per track if the jury finds the infringements were willful. The maximum jurors could have awarded in Tenenbaum's case was $4.5 million.
Last month, a federal jury in Minneapolis ruled that Jammie Thomas-Rasset, 32, must pay $1.92 million, or $80,000 on each of 24 songs, after concluding she willfully violated the copyrights on those tunes.

Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, distribution of copyright materials is punishable by law. Those found guilty of copyright infringement may face the following penalties:
        • Up to five years in jail
        • Fines and charges of up to $150,000 per file
        • In addition to any other charges that might be brought against you, the copyright holder can file suit, which can result in legal fees and damages that must be paid.

And your country doesn't have any laws? I am not a lawyer, but just because everyone does something does not mean it is legal and/or ethical. Dan said it best:

Mate as far as I know there has never been a court case here with regards to Spotify ! the only one here was for the IPs to monitor the sites that people download movies from as in Pirate sites and even that is a dogs breakfast

I was just trying to show that what people did in the 70s till now they have always copied music and movies TV shows & porn either via tape or vcr and cd

And did any of us think it was wrong maybe but it was still done

                  Dan

I totally get where you are coming from but I was just trying to show the other side

Right or wrong this is what a lot of us did when were young and like i wrote most of us did not think we were doing anything wrong to copy media

Now that we are older and know what happens when we do this we break the law
and can be punished by the law of the country you live in

Just some countries laws are not as strong as the USA because the judicial system is not bound by the party in government ! well not in my country and Asia

I tried both Spotify downloader and Spotify recorder.

    For Spotify downloader:
    Fast download
not stable, lot of songs can not be downloaded

    For Spotify recorder:
slow, recording while you are playing music
stable, you can record any song from Spotify

    I prefer the recording method!

    Hi All,

Great discussion regarding legalities, however - as the topic in question is directly against spotify's terms and conditions - it's considered illegal. We don't endorse behaviours or discussions of illegal activity so this thread will be closed.

    Thanks for contributing!
