Small laptop issues need some advice

Hey All

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that I bought in 2013 that has developed a very peculiar habit that is driving me crazy

This issue started happening last week and looking for some advise please!

At any time one or keys will not work and I have to tap a few time to the thing to work
and It is random, not had any virus or malware so I have ruled that out if it was one row I would get an idea but because it is random driving me nuts

    Dells, tend to develop issues after a few years, but l would try all of the keys in safe mode.

    Or load up the keyboard country of origin again, that might clear it?

    To best of my knowledge, It could b due mostly to Hardware issue than a Software. (It used to happen to me a lot when I used to have food while working). See if this helps in any way ...

    1. Try to dust out your keyboard. Over the period of time some small dust gets clogged in & could impact the keystrokes. if you can check for a little dust beneath the keyboard, that may help you. I typically reverse the laptop (keys facing down) & tap gently to remove any looose dust.

    2. If you observed this issue with a particular key, try to pull that key (Check if it is possible to pull & don't break it, if it doesn't come out)

    3. To ensure this is not a software issue, try connecting an external keyboard. If everything is good with the external keyboard, you may just need to get some hardware folks to clean up your keyboard panel.

      Cheers for the answer but the keyboard is sealed so no food an get it there but will try what you mentioned and see if it makes it better

    I had an HP do almost the same thing you described. Mine the keyboard just wore out according to Bestbuy. They replaced the keyboard and the laptop is still working good. The computer was about 2.5 years old. Maybe dell has the same problem. Curious to know what wrong with yours. Keep us posted ! Thanks

      I have found what may be the issue the only problem is the Keyboard is sealed so not crap can get in but looks like the ribbon slipped , so I have 2 ways to fix one would be to send to Dell to fix ( this country they are extortionist for cost ) or 2 get another Laptop so the later will be on the cards so have to put out a new product to the list this weekend so i can get the money lol
