How do you cope with the pain in your back after the office? Can you recommend something?

Assuming that back pain is merely caused from excessive sitting, you may have developed poor posture which results in muscle imbalance, inflammation and pain. If you spend most of your time in a seated position it would be a good idea to stretch out your hip flexors and lower back. It would also do you well to "work" or strengthen specific core muscles such as the glutes, abdominals and obliques.

Often times people who do a lot of sitting end up with an anterior pelvic tilt. This can be seen by looking at a person from the side while standing still or moving forward. An anterior pelvic tilt will cause a person to lean forward at the hips. An excessive rounding of the lower back may also be evident. This type of imbalance can be corrected with certain stretches and exercises.

To strengthen the glutes you can do bridges (lying on the floor lifting your hips up) or a leg raise from a quadruped position (lifting the leg up while hands and knees remain on the floor). In time, squats, deadlifts, split stance and single leg exercises may also be useful.

To strengthen the abdominals you can lie on the floor with one leg extended while the other is bent with the foot on the floor. From this position you slide your hands forward a few inches while lifting your shoulders and shoulder blades off the floor.

To strengthen the stabilizing muscles of the core you can do various plank or anti rotation exercises. These will help keep your spine safe during daily activities.

Again, this is all assuming low back pain is coming from excessive sitting which results in a muscular imbalance. If this is not the case then these exercises may be less than helpful.

Do you currently perform any daily stretches or exercises?

You may have to connect with a personal trainer (such as myself) who can assess your posture, movements, weaknesses, etc. Good luck, and I hope this has been helpful.

Deep yin yoga rocks. Helped me with bad back pain, neck stiffness and calves and hamstring that used to be as tightly wound as piano wire. I do 1 hour daily, and have been at it for almost 9 months.

I was facing the same issue...when I go back home I was still not comfortable lying on bed...So after so many advises and internet surfing I found out that i was facing issue due to my sitting position...If you sit on computer in office...Do take care of your sitting position...Do not keep your computer chair so high that your feels can't touch the ground...Always sit in position where yours feets are properly touching ground in rest position...So if your feets are not properly touching the ground means your chair is too high...It would hurt your back,so try to sit straight with your back....And If you are not comfortable even at your bed..Go for new and hard matress .I have done this changes and now I am relaxed.

Some days are better than others, but I take Tylenol when the days are bad. If that does not work I hit my toe with a hammer and if that does not work I hit my wife's toe for a laugh. The trick is not to laugh too hard when the back pain is rally bad.

Once you've recovered go to the gym and lift weights. I workout 5 days a week, never had any back pain at all, and it's a good way of relieving some stress. Also stand up and walk around every hour or so.

Hello, I had this issue and those stuff helped me:

    * After every 45 minutes to 1 hour, take a walk around the house/office. Maybe grab a cup of water.
    * Go see an expert. Maybe it's a back issue, maybe you have problems with your feet. Only expert can tell.
    * Buy a high quality chair.
*Combine working out and stretching in your life. Sign up to a gym. do around 3-4 training every week. It will improve your whole lifestyle. Let me know if you need help with that, I have been training for the last few years daily.

My back tends to hurt sitting in the same position for long periods of time, probably like yourself.

What I find works for me is a nice hot bath.

I have a cushion designed to support your lower back, have a search on Amazon for one. Works for some but not all.
