So Shane..What's going to happen, upgrade, pay up, or pay for Adobe stuff?

Personally I would just turn off the Wifi and use the machine as a workhorse.

Lol, what a crock,......l have had all updates permanently turned off for the last 1 and a half years, and the OS is purring, and everything else is purring.

Updates are there to mess with the oS, so you are more inclined to upgrade, slow the computer down, (as they currently do with smartphones) take up computer memory with useless Word and Silverlight updates) and cripple very expensive software.

I agree XP is the workhorse and 7 is the nicest looking, but l havn't updated XP for phew, at least 5 years, and 7pro for over a year.

The only issue with XP is it is running out of memory and has closed system restore down.

You can skip all updates, the Microsoft, "updates are necessary to protect against viruses and will affect system performance, is BS".

We want to control you, so you will keep buying our S**t, is closer to the truth, especially one part.

Windows 8 is more or less gone. It was a flawed design from the get go. Windows 10 most recent upgrades do not slow your computer down. But it looks like you will pay for that also in the future.

I have used Safari it is okay it works but I'm more familiar with Widows. Purchased a cheap chromebook and use the Chrome OS not bad similar to Windows but the program I wanted to use is not available at all on Chrome. So pick what works best for your use.
