That is easy. I did the get a great education, get a great job (there were a couple of startups in there), get married and have a family, buy a house and put the remainder of my money into a 401K for the first 25 years. Yes - have a great family and a good life, but locked with the "golden handcuffs" - that is, no passive cash flow and had to work everyday or the world around me would collapse.

Just over 5 years ago, changed my view of the world. Stopped the 401K gig, moved beyond the stock market to real estate, internet businesses and some oil and gas and bingo... monthly cash flow arrives whether I am working or not. Stress levels are gone, I attend all my kids sporting events (games etc...), take time to have lunch or take a walk with my wife. Totally changed my world.

That many of the important things are actually learned too late in life.

After coming to the realization, I simply shrug my shoulders and say, "Oh, well. So much for that."

Life goes on, but for not much longer. That's why it's no big deal.

That with age and experience comes perspective and a sense of proportion. It's hard to say one learns this too late as it's mostly a result of being around for a while.

But at least it's something for youngsters to look forward to.

Claude may have perspective but has no proportion.

I'm only 40 so nothing is to late in life at this point .. i ave 30-40 years left with the current average lifespan.. and i have made so many messes in the first 20 years of my adulthood .. that i have mostly cleaned up.. and i have gotten better at learning ..

the main thing i have learn is to clean up small messes before they get big .. and this one is heresy in the success community .. but i have learned to love my comfort zone .. and get on a path to just making it increasingly more comfortable .. no need to make myself miserable about what i have to want better..

go for the next best thing enjoy that then go for the next best thing after that ..
