RIP Alfred E.

I loved Mad as a kid. I even watched the Mad TV show a few years back just because of the name. It wasn't the same as the magazine. It was more like SNL type skits.

Use to always enjoy Spy vs. Spy in Mad magazine. My brother bought them all the time. Then I read them when he was done. Always good for a laugh.

I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.

Whatty will be devastated. He has earned a living for the last 20 years showing up at parties and events as Alfred E. .

Another vote for Spy vs Spy!!!

The whole magazine was great when I could get one. My mother did not approve. My older brother could sneak one in now and then.

My favourites were the Marginal Error Dept. drawn by Sergio Aragones in the margins of the magazine, plus Spy v Spy, plus Don Martin's efforts, plus the fold ins on the inside back cover

R.I.P..

My mother was hyper religious.

Most kids had Playboy hidden away from their parents. I had Mad magazine. I had maybe a hundred issues. I kept most of them in a drawer.

One day I came home from high school and they were all gone. I asked my mom where they were, and she had thrown them away.
I asked her why she threw them away. .....

She said that it was smut. because she found the word "bra' in an issue.

Fun times.

Sorry to hear that the magazine folded. While my wife shopped for groceries, I'd enjoy reading the latest issue at the magazine rack. Maybe my favorite part was where they would take a popular song and change the words.

Thanks

Undertakers Weekly was obviously not available in your area?

No surprise that you are always looking at Racks

Honestly, my first thought when seeing this headline was, "Oh, shit, Whatty died?!"

While I'm glad it wasn't actually Whatty, I'm a little sad to see another American institution fold.

Thanks

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

I can understand that. You probably spent most of your life in American institutions.

Hmmm. Face to face, sincerity is a hard thing to fake. It seems it's just as hard to fake it in forum posts.
