Fish Sticks

I Love Walmart Fish Sticks.

The brand above is the poor mans brand = $2.98. Its a few dollars cheaper than most brands sold at Walmart. A few different companies sell their own brand of course. However, I learned that the brand Mrs. Paul's = $4.97 is an equivalent taste. And Kroger also sells their own brand made by Dillons = $3.79 also an equivalent taste.

The Pros: A few dollars less than the competition.

The Bad: Walmart does not deliver.

    Several years ago I was walking through a grocery store with a neighbor - not someone I knew well. She said it was 'stupid' for stores to invest 'all the mone'y to package their own food brands instead of just selling national brands.

    When I told her these were 'branded' products mostly made by national manufacturers and simply packaged under the store brand....she was angry. She said it 'wasn't fair'.

    I always wondered if she was the same woman who called a radio station to complain about 'deer crossing' signs ...

      That's not always the case. I have been trying Krogers own brand on quite a few things.. like their washing up liquid that congeals at the top of the opening so you have to keep poking a hole through it with a fork to get the flow started. Krogers spicy buffalo wings as opposed to Tysons, positively yuk. Their own ketchup, eek, Quite a few things were disappointing. Walmart fayres better.

      i worked in food processing for ten years and it is still very interesting how that works . one of the companies i worked for blended then canned and jarred tang for kraft .. ..that was the comapnies bread and butter business .. but i believe kraft owned many of the pieces of machinery involved .. it was all exported to the middle east so it went in truck the got taken to the docls and loaded on ships

      and that deer crossing one is one of my favorites the other one i only know to search for it as mabe prank call

    Jus' goes SCHLAPPO -- an' stays put till you wriggle around.

    Bacon kinda works also.

    But FISH?

    Aw, c'mon, no way that is stickin' anyplace -- less'n it is a real long strip of quality smoked salmon don't roll up into a ball as it is whooshyin' through the air.

    Best deal you got for seafood is sumthin' like oysters or scampi.

    But your aim gotta be real sweet.

    Yeah, I too have compared the spicy buffalo wings and agree with you.


    Frozen shrimp. Kroger had a recall a while back on their shrimp. Now sure about Walmart's Sea Pak, but I always preferred SeaPak anyway.


    Ice cream wise you can't go wrong with Mayfield. Just don't try to spread it over my wife. I almost pulled back a nub. :=)
