I seem to recall Claude saying he once tried to build a Batman grappling hook, but couldn't get it done.

This guy has done it....for the most part.

To Claude's benefit, he was trying to build one back in the 50's, so he was at a technological (and let's be honest, intellectual) disadvantage.

    As a kid, I tried to make a working grappling hook, a working Daredevil billy club, and an exploding arrow.

    I'm amazed I survived.

    And (I'm sure you were like this too) as a kid, all the gadgets seemed completely plausible. I also wondered if you could really swing from a whip like on Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

    The answer is No. None of these things work like in the comic books or movies.

    Except...I was watching a show that had gun enthusiasts destroy old cars and other structures with custom made weapons. They built really effective exploding arrows and incendiary arrows. Now, if they could just build a boxing glove arrow, they could fight crime in a silly costume.
    And it would work, unless criminals had guns. Than it would be really...really stupid.
