Question About Email Spam

My sister has an Ipad and an Iphone and lives in the UK. She uses Yahoo for her email and has a free account like most people. Had the same address for years She says that every time I send her an email with a link to youtube.com (American Address) content she is deluged with spam emails from the US. I have a private email with Hostgator and get very little spam (due to the filters) down to my Outlook.

So, she told me to stop sending them and deletes any email I send with a US link in it.

Can anyone explain why this happens?

    Then they sell your contact info to advertisers. Have you
    ever noticed sometimes when you mention a certain topic
    in your emails you start seeing ads about it when you go
    online?

    I believe the problem is in Yahoo email, this is the only reason that I see, because there can't be any problem with YouTube links

      You are right, it is, I found out in the mail settings there are two options that you should turn off. They relate to the fact that by default, Yahoo interrogates your incoming or outgoing emails and sends ads to your mailbox it deems appropriate. Who would of thought, a self spamming email service. But you can switch it off.

    Wonder - What should you do when you send the same mail to another person and he/she had the same setting!

    As you using private email then I would like to recommend you add SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for your domain. Hope that can help
