Whichever way it happens, you know that you are shortly to become one of the dearly departed.

For the last time, you get to eat a final meal. Your appetite is good and you can have anything you want food and drink wise and as much as you want.

What platter of your favorite food/s and drink/s would be laid out before you?

Pretty easy, a bottle of 200 year old conyak, produced a year before the French Revolution, currently going for $23,000 AU, and a painless poison that sends you to sleep and then some.

I literally couldn't eat anything, so may as well get drunk, and do myself in, (l assume l am on death row, and getting ready for an unpleasant death, l would rather take the nicer route).

PS. goes without saying that Claude would have a plate of Krispy Kreme donuts, and would hope to die, chocking on one, and wash it down with a large, frosty pitcher of goats milk, while admiring the new, Dyson vacuum cleaner in the sealed section of "Life Sucks Monthly"?

So...you know you are going to die right away, and you still have an appetite?

If I were going to die later that day, no matter the cause, I wouldn't eat anything. What a waste.

The reason condemned people chose what their last meal is...is that this is one of the very few things they can now control. It's why you hear about them saying things like "I'm going to die on my terms!".

Powerless people screaming out their last gasp of control over their failed life.

    Humans.

I find it interesting that death row or excecution were not mentioned but you both went there.

The reality of your own mortality robbed you of the ability to enjoy the life you have left.

Live every day like it's your last, especially if it is.

I have a different point of view.

The reality of my real mortality doesn't rob me of anything. But if I knew I was about to die that day, and had one last meal....I wouldn't take it.

If I knew I was about to die from any cause, eating would be the last thing on my mind.
I mentioned the "last meal" rationale, because it's revealing about human nature.

Grasping at straws, making demands when you are powerless....is revealing about how the brain rebels at the idea of losing control.

I assumed that, if you know you are going to die after another meal, you are either dying of natural causes or being executed. Neither way would make me want to eat a last meal.

But...if I were forced to choose one food that I would have to eat every meal until I died...it would probably be steak.

Well l didn't, and even if it was natural, it still sounds like a good way to go, or knowing that l am drinking about 5k of 200 year old liqueur per glass is about as good as it gets down here.

And if l lived every day like it was my last l would be broke and have sky high dept, and probably wished it was my last day.

How many other times can you eat a final meal?

I think if you know you've only got a day or two left, it would be far more important who you share that meal with than what it actually was.

But I can't imagine it would be a concern either way. I'd hope to spend most of the time walking or sitting outdoors. If that wasn't an option, I'd ask for a bottle of single malt and go out in peaceful reflection.

Unless, you know, there's that last minute call from the judge.

That. That's why I make sure I read your posts.

It would be far more important to be able to choose who to have the last meal with, rather than what it is.

Just as it is today, and every day. Who you are with is far more important than what you are doing...in my experience.

The final meal thin is usually for prisoners who normally are few prison food.

I thought of something that had the risk of death built into eating it.

So if it was not the meal that would kill me but something else and I didn't care how healthy the meal was.

Brisket mixed with Mac and cheese that is smoked then rolled into balls breaded in panko and deep fried in pure duck fat .

With a verity of dipping sauces to choose from. And a beer brewed to suit my taste buds.

And popcorn shrimp fried in the same duck fat.

Pasture raised chicken marinated in butter milk over night the breaded and deep fried in the duck fat.

Deep frying in any fat is not good to often. Duck fat is pricy enough so it can't be used all that often. Or just used in small amounts

    Ha -- great question lanfear63.

For me it would be a meal my Dad cooked many years ago when I was struggling with my illness (etc.) -- and not eating very much ...) Anyway, it was a simple fillet stake meal with chips, onion rings, salad, tomatoes (etc.) and a bottle of beer.

    Best meal I've ever had. : )

I would like to eat everything, meat and vegetables, and carbs. Because to be vegan is not like people talk: that save nature, they care about pollution... pollution is directly associated with vegans as well because plants emit co2 too. I use rubbish removal by Zero Waste that which collects my garbage and then recycle it. It may be a little, but it still affects.

I have always loved the smell or should I say fragrance of Johnnie Walker Scotch and I would definitely want to have it as my last drink before joining my ancestors.

On the one last food I would want, it's going to be Rocky Mountain Oysters and Lobster Mac and Cheese.
