I love using old timey words like Tom Foolery, Shenanigans, Comeuppance, Hijinks, and Balderdash.

My favorite word is Shenandoah. I just love the sound of it.

Balderdash: "senseless talk or writing; nonsense" I can see why you identify with that word.

These are genuine things that l want to pop into my head each day, the rest is Google search.

        And this being no exemption...

Random things that pop into my mind make me happy no one can really read minds. Though I think one woman managed it once. As I had not said anything but she turned around and smacked me hard. Only saying "you pig"

Poor girl hurt her hand on my thick skull

When people ask me what is wrong with me . I tend to respond "you really don't want that list. The last thing my shrink told me was there was nothing he could do for me "

My new favorite which no one gets is" the first week in Vegas I stopped drinking for good.

There are times when a sentence of the day just won't come to mind. New trail ride customer is so busy telling us what an experienced rider she is we had to interrupt her to tell her we couldn't start the ride till she mounted the horse. She used the mounting platform ...put her foot in the stirrup, swung a leg over....and fell off the other side.

    Sometimes there are no words.

    Word of the day:

    Cockroach

    n. pl. cockroaches

A regular roach that thinks he's all that.

    Sample sentence:

After Fred found the uncovered sugar left on the table and had his fill, he puffed out his chest and flew around to show everyone how big and bad he was. Lilly who was working on some Cheerios on the floor left by the baby, looked at Fred in awe and said, "Now, there is a cockroach."

Unfortunately you would probably hurt your hand on my thick skull and knock one or two of the loose screws in my head free.

Last night, I watched a comedy special with Nikki Glazer.

At one point she was talking about when people find attractive in the opposite sex.

She said something like "Men and women both say they was a partner with a sense of humor. The difference is, a woman means that she wants her man to be funny. A man means that he wants the women to laugh at his jokes".

I burst out laughing. It as a true insight that never occurred to me.

        PLEASE!

The title of this thread is clear - and yet it is going down the same path as several recent 'mind section' threads - with 2-3 people arguing the meaning of what someone else posted, the definition of success, the meaning of life, etc etc - the same back and forth takes over the thread and other members walk away.

There is no reason to to define, explain or argue with what someone else posted in a thread like this one. Believe it or not, other members are capable of understanding a quote for themselves.

I hope we can get back to posting as the thread title indicates...and keep the thread open.

The conversations need to stay on topic otherwise every thread ends up being the same discussion.

Anyway to get the thread back on track.

Nothing if you start a thread about what you want to talk about and others are interested in participating.

A lot wrong when you take over a thread started by someone else who began a thread HE was interested in.

It doesn't mean that relatively poor people tend to be miserable.

But that doesn't mean that, because you are poor, or are from a certain background, that you are going to behave a certain way.
Agreed Claude, just because l go to a shopping centre that is situated near a poor area mainly consisting of other nationalities other than Australians, and see a lot of large family's show up with Ferrel siblings doesn't mean that is a accurate representation.

And l have to admit that upon thinking about it, there where also plenty of English speaking family's with Ferrel children show up also.

Well, tagiscom's writings are often unclear and opaque, but based on his previous posting history, there's two possibilities as to what exactly he meant:

1)That immigrants bought baby ferrets from the pet store and decided to just let them run wild around the viscinity of tagiscom

                2) Australians mated with ferrets and there are now ferret-human hybrids running around Tagiscom's Australia, according to tagiscom

I don't think cross breeding will happen as the mutant ferret children keep trying to chase down and eat the wild fluffy bunnies.

It's all Hersey though as social media companies ban any videos as being too shocking and place a bad light on the hybrid ferret children

As some of you may have noticed, I have collected a lot of quotations over the years ― and this is one of my favourites:

"Suffer now and live the rest of your Life like a Champion."―Muhammad Ali
For me that was comforting at the time as I was dealing with Mental Illness/"Life-Challenges" ... However I think it can apply to many Peoples' endeavours (etc.). In terms of Entrepreneurship/Marketing/etc. ... When things seem tough/difficult just keep persevering ― because the "reward"/outcome is (usually) worth it.

There is a difference and you don't give your self enough credit. However you developed the high level of positive outlook and enthusiasm. Those where probably the keys that got you through.

With the times we are going through the world may need a bright fire of positiveity and enthusiasm to get through the harsh reality of the days ahead.

Oh absolutely ― I probably wouldn't be here today ― or at least what I'm doing in Life ― if I didn't (as you said) develop a "Positive Outlook/Thinking/Mindset" (etc.) Yeah I think it can really make a big difference.

I know the term "Positive Thinking" has something of a negative connotation ... However for me ― to think Positively and be Positive ― was kind of Life-changing.

Anyway, to get the Thread back on topic, here's another one I like:

That quotation. I have a version of it. We often hinder the new improved us by living by the limitations of the old us.

It's not fear it is laziness. Having to explore what is possible every time you expand beyond previous limitations. Takes far more effort than the actual improvement.

And I totally agree with your views on positive thinking/outlook/mindset.

It can really determine whether you have a Life worth living or one that is sadly not.

Reality and the World we live in is what you make of it. It all starts 'between your ears' so to speak. That's why you see some people who barely have a pot to pee in but they are happy as can be , and then you see others who are extremely wealthy have miserable lives.

            Do you know why?

Acquiring wealth takes energy, ambition, and a little intelligence.

Ambition is a state of agitation...not being happy with what you have...or what you are doing. "Wanting more" is a fair description of a type of unhappiness. Sometimes it's a fear of failing....or a fear of being poor.

The problem is, ambition pours effort into a hole that can never be filled. "Never being satisfied" can lead to greatness, but rarely to happiness.

But that's only some of the wealthy people.

Of all the wealthy people I know, all of them are well adjusted kind people. Almost all are excellent parents.

Nearly all miserable people I know are poor. Why? Because "Being miserable" is what they are. It's their identity. It's their place in the social order. I grew up around these people. Some of them are related to me.

So they tend to do things that make them miserable...and keep themselves miserable. This almost never leads to wealth.

The people I know that are poor and are happy are simply good people who don't think about money, past paying their bills...and going on a vacation once in awhile.

They already are where they want to be. And there is nothing wrong with that. There are also poor people that are simply unaware that there are options for them.

And some people have limited options. Or at least getting started on the way to wealth is going to be harder for them.

              .
Agreed, l saw one Ethnic family with several children in a restaurant l like to frequent, allowing their children to run rampant annoy other patrons and effectively be a visual and verbal nuisance.

Then another most likely wealthier parent, (going by their clothes) walk in with her two children of equal age to the previous example, sit down and stay seated and remain quiet.

Parents of poor social/economic backgrounds seem to see the restaurant as their kids creche, with patrons forced to nursemaid their children.

This is a quote of the day. In parts of Mexico so many people from the USA have move into areas in the last two years. The locals are complaining that these immigrants are refusing to learn Spanish and not adapting to the local culture.

                We are not agreeing.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with how well someone behaves, how smart they are, or their character.

And income has little to do with a person's character or how well behaved children are in public.

My point was that miserable people tend to be poor, because it's far harder to build wealth when you constantly see yourself as a victim, and blame others for your situation.

It doesn't mean that relatively poor people tend to be miserable.

But that doesn't mean that, because you are poor, or are from a certain background, that you are going to behave a certain way.

People act a certain way because they learn to respond to events in a certain way and then build lives where about the same events happen for as long as possible.

As long as they survive the misery is tolerable

Polyamory, is not to be confused with polygamy.

I see your point, I don't like the pov of society at most things, too much hypocrisy, virtue signaling and double standards...And I also believe that through mindset and personal development, things can come "easier" and we can avoid at some point the "struggling"

However, the point of my comment was that, strong goals and reason can give you powerful motivation and inspiration for living

Great quotation. : ) And good point.

I honestly believe a Person can learn something from almost anything. It won't necessarily be "easy" ... However it will probably be worth it. (That's been my experience anyway.)

      [Added=]
Part of the solution is that People have to believe that they can change, grow, and evolve in Life ... And that they can create the Life, Success, and Results that they want. Some People are kind of "stuck" and think things can't change.

I tried to play angry birds on the first cell phone I had. It didn't go well . I accidentally killed a pigeon when I threw the phone..

How can you get a good idea of about how old someone is by what they are wearing and their cell phone.

Their pants are pulled up and their ringtone sounds like a phone.

How do you torture someone under 30 . Take their cell phone away and put a rotary phone in front of them and have them call every number they remember.
