This is very bad

These reporters are paid to make stories captivating. So you see reporters standing in deep water, when the water is only a few inches deep around them.

You see them standing by the tallest snow drift, to make the snow look worse.

And they will interview people with the very worst stories, asking questions to elicit a moving story.

And as far as weather predictions, they always assume the worst, and present that as what is expected.

Decades ago, there were only a few channels with the news. And you got the straight news (or close to it), You never knew the reporter's political leanings, or see their emotional response to a story. And they didn't exaggerate for effect. Why? No competition.

Now, every channel is on 24 hours a day and there are dozens of places to get your "news" on TV. so you see everyone creating drama where none really exists. You see predictions instead of facts. You see outrage instead of hard news.

And we eat it up. Whoever feeds our biases, gets our eyeballs.

Even from the few reporters that I believe, I know that at least 20% of what they say is unsubstantiated exaggeration, or editing of stories to fit a narrative.

We used to argue about opinions. Now we argue about the fabric of reality.
