And it's only 9 grand.

I'm sure you will be getting one, for what reason, I don't know.

Perhaps you want to get your answers from parallel worlds?

  • I ain't zackly a science gal, but ain't the thing with quantum how it is kinda evryplace at once?

If so, that kinda does away with 'portable' as any kinda USP.

Thanks Mark, but conventional computers are more powerful since this is only 2QB,s, this is only as a curiosity.

But being able to create a stable magnetic field without liquid helium is pretty cool, (l know not intentional).

Maybe they could scale that up for the Fission reactor that is always 30 years away, (l know they recently got overunity, which is dodgy to say the least).

It's actually a Fusion reactor, Fission is what we have now. Some recent Fusion experiments on a small scale (check the news) have actually tentatively sort of become proof of concept in their success. So we at last may be far less than 30 years away. Yep, over unity in that what you are attempting to do produces far more energy than what you put in.

Due to the abundance of the materials it will be the savior of clean, cheap energy and if you could have small and large versions that are safe it could power just about anything.

Far more desirable in the long run compared with solar and wind etc although they will have their places.

Yeah, but they don't take the lazer power into consideration, nor how much The elements cost to compress, (which is very expensive, l covered this elsewhere).

    ...and?

Discovering a method to reliably produce controlled fusion will create much more power than fission...without the radioactive waste.

Scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's National Ignition Facility have made history by successfully producing a nuclear fusion reaction resulting in a net energy gain, a breakthrough hailed by US officials as a "landmark achievement" and a "milestone for the future of clean energy."Dec 13, 2022

For one thing Kay Tritium is $850,000 dollars an ounce, so the power source is very expensive. And second they only mention overunity in and of itself but don't mention the huge power requirements of powering up the Lasers.

The development curve of technology. Especially once it gets to a point where fusion is now and becomes the thing. The other potential is magic generation. But there is also geothermal.

Solar and wind work some places and not others . And the power source for an area will depend on the geographic area. We will need to use fossil fuel for other things besides power. And in the USA natural gas is almost a waste product of that.

Now as for the quantum computer. If mores law applies the price will drop by half every 18 months.
