my daughter's sweet sixteen b-day bash that is. had over 200 people attend from 6-12 midnight. Dancing , toasts where i had to overcome my fear of public speaking, eating, drinking , and mingling.

it was 1.5 years of planning and was the expense of a medium sized wedding. It's just such a relief that it is over with. It has kept me up at nights and just glad to finally unwind

Geez - makes me so glad I had sons!

That' a LOT for a birthday party.

Edit: If that's how your family 'does' big events...have you considered encouraging your daughter to elope when it's time for a wedding?

yeah , i hear ya , Kay. That idea of eloping sounds good to me. But knowing my daughter and wife well it probably won't happen that way lol

That sounds like you went full force on that! I'd bet it's a big weight off your shoulders right now. As for the wedding idea, it would be pretty sweet if I said I proposed to Ainsley, held a massive BBQ in Crystal Cove, and donated all proceeds to the restaurant's economy, but to be honest, after pulling that off, I'm pretty sure I'd be in the "let's just keep it simple" camp for the next big event. Just might be time to elope quietly.

200 people for a 16th birthday party and costing as much as a medium sized wedding? Are you nuts? HEB must have promoted you, lol.

I'm sure you must have rented an expensive venue given it's attendance size and had people dress up as Disney characters. Having it in and around your house would have had to have been a no no just in case the couch got damaged.

All joking and disbelief aside, was this a surprise party?

No , it was not a surprise party. Claude and Dan attended and performed half time tricks with a unicycle and sporting thongs to boot.

      It was quite a show

Agreed a Bundy and Rum sixpack and family sized Twinky box is all that is required.

DC an' Marvel are down on their luck, so mebbe there's a pick-me-up movie in this.

        Half Time Tricks
: What happens when two semi-has-beens combine their superpowers to produce a heroic phenomenon equal to marginally less than the sum of their individual wholes -- and then TAKE ON THE GODDAMN UNIVERSE? Find out in Half Time Tricks II after they done bitchin'!

A stadium rock duo would also work -- dusspite the wobbliness of one an' the intrinsic visibility ishoos of the othah.

Or what 'bout a mobile house of ill repute? Out in the desert buttween noplace an' noplace else? Where you can pull off in comfort aftah days on the road, an' kick back while the least exotic dancahs evah work their stunningly implausible kinda magic on yr most evry desiah?

Hey, Disco, but I like the sounda your party way more ...

More like the quote from Chech and Chong, "Are you out F****ing mind" That explains why Robert has been missing lately.

discrat, the best weddings I have been to are the small gatherings. One was a close friend who had to get married before his wife's grandmother was about to leave the earth. It was like a small beer bash on a Friday night. Everyone had a great time! I have been to large weddings that were very stuffy IMHO. My old best friend's wife had a Christmas Wedding. A few years later, I asked her opinion about the wedding, and she said they should have a smaller wedding with Piazza. Needless to say, they ended up divorced and my friend is remarried now. The first friend mentioned is still married and both his children graduated college by now.

As long as she is happy and enjoyed herself that's all that matters. I want to thank you for being an awesome parent to her .
