Who knows. Why are you worried so much if you haven't been taking anything?

The few times I have interviewed for jobs in the last couple of years I get the OPPOSITE effect. For a few reasons I take morphine daily (both sulfate and hcl) as well as oxycodone!

When I as scheduled for test-----they have YET to take the prescription first. I must always test positive and then, generally, must fax current prescription to the lab.

Always has seemed a worthless step---but I guess that is what the lab gets paid for!

        Bizarre.

I never thought anything of drug tests until I read about OTC meds screwing with your results, then how unreliable they may be in general... gah.

Ibuprofen's apparently known to mess with results, but not oxycodone? *shakes head*

I take prescription strenght ibuprofen daily because of my lingering back pain from surgery a pair of years ago and I do get false positive drug test results as well.

Surely you know the name of the company you applied for? Call their main switchboard and ask to speak with the Human Resources department. It's possible they just got behind a few days - it's also possible that you flunked the test for some reason, but they have to TELL you that.

You should have discussed if there were anything you could not eat before testing, such as poppy seeds or chocolate - but they should also be telling you that stuff.
Instead of just sweating about it - call them.

When an employer does drug tests, your test is generally processed in a group. They dont do one test at a time (generally) because it saves money to do 10-15 at a time. Many times they will do whats called a 'combo' test where they take a small sample from each cup, put them all together and test that mix. If that mix comes up with no positives, the whole batch goes through. This saves time and money. If the mix comes up with a 'hit' then each individual sample is tested to find out who the big winner is. When that happens the results for each individual generally take more time.

They will have the power to press the testing company. After all, the hiring company is a client of the testing company and can always switch testers if they're not happy with the speed and quality of service.

Shame they had to test you in the first place. From what I hear, this is extremely common in the US? And yet it is more likely to catch an occasional MJ user than a regular hard drugs user.
Yep very common here. Funny thing is they only catch those few people left who don't know how to beat it, or people who never did drugs with a false positive which is very common.
My last wife worked at a place that drug tested as part of the hiring process. When I picked her up from her first night at work she told me how at lunch time about 75% of the employee's where out in their cars getting high.

There are a lot of things that will give a false positive. Ibuprophen and poppy seeds are usually the most common. A muffin with poppy seeds for breakfast will usually do you in.

You can buy lots of different drinks that will flush you out and they work on most job and state urinalysis test......atleast thats what i heard

They sell KITS to pass these things. I only had ONE client to be request such a test. I forget WHY they tested, but I ended up working elsewhere.

They EVEN check the temperature of urine to determine if it is legit.

BTW what Michael Motley heard is wrong. They often test for concentration, so dilution WILL NOT necessarily WORK. And some drugs metabolize slowly, so liquids won't flush them out of your system. the labs are trying to counter all the old tricks.

In this financial climate a very common test an employer will give, is the call back test. An easy way to thin out competitors for a job is to see who calls back to ask for it. It's a "how bad do you want it" kind of test. Not always good for finding the best employee, but an easy way to narrow the decision.

And to add more intrigue to this, some tests are targeted to
metabolized by-products of certain drugs. So if the original
bad guy is known to be out of your system in a certain amount
of time, the metabolized by-products that are specific to the
bad guys are still there to be detected.

So they ping on the metabolized by-products and conclude,
    "Yes, you're a drug addict."

    Cool, huh?

When the company I worked for re-opened a year after Katrina - a lot of people who used those kits got fooled.

The company did a three month hair test...oops.

After random drug tests it's not unusual to hear one person telling another "I used that kit and they caught me anyway".

I'd just call and ask what their hiring schedule is and ask where you are in that process - wouldn't mention the drug test as I doubt that has anything to do with it. Some companies get everything done and then are slow to do the hiring.

I said it only to show that there are enough tests that there is a market for things to TRY to defeat them. I checked them out once. The SIMPLE ones just store urine. The more complicated ones provide things like heaters, concealed delivery, etc... In short, the less risky products cost more. Like I said though, the labs find ways to defeat them, etc....

I only had one test though, have taken FEW prescription drugs, and NEVER took illegal drugs. So I certainly don't have any reason to buy these kits to try to defeat drug tests.

BTW I don't think many things show up in hair samples. Besides, if they did, that would be a pretty foolproof way to test.

BTW anyone ever see gattaca? Gattaca (1997)

Hair sample testing is almost foolproof for cocaine. It is not good at all for general drug testing. It is excellent for testing for heavy metal poisoning, but I doubt many people use antimony or arsenic to get stoned.

With hair testing you can't beat the test by staying off drugs for a week or two - and it tests for the drugs that are the most harmful to have workers on.

I'd say it's pretty efficient - we lost a lot of dealers to that test when we re-opened and all admitted the test was accurate - and none of them had been previously caught by the random urine tests.

One of the people fired told me she had used a "special" shampoo - and that it obviously it didn't work.

Hair testing is more accurate, but it's much more expensive.

I think your reading in to this way too much, there could numbers of reason why they have not called you yet, and all these reason could lead to the fact that they could be UN organised like most companies and lost the results. If there was anything to worry about they would of called back! what's the big deal just Google them on the net and call them up if you can't remember there number! Most likely they would just turn around and say apologise for the delay in calling you back. End of the day all this fuss for a pat time job is it really worth the stress.

Hair testing can be inaccurate according to the color of hair you have. I can't remember what the order of this is - either light or dark hair stores more.....grey, almost nothing. So much so that there was a court case on discrimination - might be going on and might have been done with, don't know what happened to it. It doesn't effect me so I really never followed the events on that one.
