We began arguing policies - and that was fun. However, it drew in people only interested in promoting their politics or dissing the other side. Just as the campaigns, the posts have gotten increasingly argumentative and ugly.

I don't have any authority but my suggestion is that the partisan posts stop. Surely everyone here is capable of making up their mind about who to vote for without reading a post telling them what to do or watching endless YouTube videos.

I'd like to see the OT go back to it's freewheeling ways - and get off all the political bandwagons. Thus, I'm going to stop clicking any thread that has a candidate's name in it...any candidate.

I can get "angst" from the news - I come here for fun and intelligent (?) discourse.

When OT was first started, it was a lot of bad jokes and silliness.
Things like, lets make the longest thread ,or other stupid stuff.

Sounds just like a libertarian. Ron Paul, the principled libertarian and greatest of all the presidential contenders, has said; send a message to the electorate by writing in for one of the right-wing alternatives to the Tweedledee and TweedleDem choices the two big-government parties are offering.

I hope that she understands that lately things are just about like when people started jumping out of windows in the '20's.

I wish that she could see that being able to express ourselves in an honest, open environment is therapeutic. As well, I have learned more than I ever wanted to know.

As a matter of fact I didn't want to know because I already knew intuitively that things were not what they seemed.

Well now they are what they seemed and I think it is very important that we be aware of just what is going down.

As long as there is no blood, what is the problem. I agree with Kim where this place was fun, but when I came I didn't even know what they were talking about - some space ship talk and complete nonsense.

ok, i am being melodramatic.

There are certain threads I ignore due to they are offensive to me or more than likely what I have to say will just make an enemy - so I am able to stay away.

Although Kay your level headedness is always welcome in any thread, (in fact even needed sometimes), please try to understand that some of us need this - who knows how many walls and keyboards have been saved from violence.

Just say NO to BOTH candidates.

p.s. If the guy that got n/a'd is who I think, I think it was due to his bot-like personality and sneaking in a t-shirt commerical sig (gasp!).

I don't think it was because of political ideals.

In these trying times, and so close to an election it is only natural that people have politics, politicians and politcal policies at the forefront of ther minds. It is hard not to. I try to avoid posting political messages, but honestly, I spend more time thinking about this subject than I do on most other topics.

Hey Kay - this is the first election we can talk about ALL of the candidates just by talking about ONE of them though.

Examples:
"Your candidate accepts bribes"
"Your candidate has terrorist associates"
"Your candidate has socialists associates"
"Your candidate votes for things illegal to the constitution"
"Your candidate has an idiot for a running mate"
"Your candidate has violated campaign rules"
"Your candidate has moronic environmental policies"
"Your candidate knows nothing about economics"
"Your candidate has a scary attitude"

NOTICE - you can't tell who the hell is being spoken about without a name attached, because each statement applies to both of the Corporate/Media selections! I find that SO convenient!

You are so right -- why push each others candidates when outside of the same cosmetic differences you get with the talking heads on MSM - black/white, old/young -- they are the nightmarishly same person!

Guess it's time to go back to the nonsense thread after all.

I think there is more intensity this time around because
a lot of people are just plain frightened. This is no doubt,
the most important election of my life and I will be very
worried until January 20th that these people just won't leave
peacefully.

It was the same guy who made the post "Is Biden Going To Kill a White Woman Tonight". I think there was total agreement from all sides that this was totally tasteless.

I am not against partisan posts about politics in any country as long as it is not hate-filled and full of lies and slander.

The campaigns themselves are hate-filled and full of lies and slander. We should be allowed to do the same. If we have to become decent, courteous, polite, logical, and all that other pansy stuff, that would greatly reduce the diversity of this rich tapestry we call bull shit.

Yup, Sal, that's what I've come to think, too.

In a normal election year, I wouldn't like the absolute partisanship and pluffed-up lies from both sides - but this year is different. We're in serious trouble- much more serious than our esteemed leaders want us to believe.
The fuzz-wudgets talking about "he did this" and "she did that" sicken me this year - we don't have time for the finger pointing crap and its frightening that those at the top of the heap haven't figured that out.

I'm to the point where I listen to the energy commercial by T. Boone Pickens and wonder "why can't he run for President".

Clearly, Tweety is my only option now as he combines the best of all the candidates - and doesn't talk as much as any of them.
