Never let the sun go down on a quarrel. And no matter how mad you get, never let any words come out of your mouth that you'll later regret. They're much harder to take back once they are out there.

I was terrified when I got married, probably for the reasons you stated in your post. I was so scared, I couldn't think. In fact, I was so distracted I missed the hair dresser's shop and had to turn around to go back. Then I'd drive past it again and miss it again. Did that about five times and was late for the appointment! Once the wedding party was assembled, I could not speak until after the ceremony was over. Husband was cool as a clam, but I was a wreck!

Anyhoo, that was 16 years ago and we're still married. So not all marriages break up. Not to say we haven't had rough spots, we do. But I think we've been married long enough to say it's been *somewhat* successful. ;-) This isn't a perfect world, after all. lol!

I would say the biggest and most important factor is honesty. Lies are marriage killers. Don't start, no matter how trivial it may seem. When it comes to lies, the smallest little crack in integrity will turn into a vast crevasse over time.

Firstly, Congratulations!

My wife and I were also married in june! June 7th to be exact.

Let me ease you mind a little. *Statistics show that June marriages on
average last twice as long as marriages in any other month of the year.

I was married at the age of 17 and my wife was 18. June 7th we will have
been married for 30 years. I'm going to tell you what my father told me just
before I took the plunge.
My father passed away before I could get his definition of "a lot" .

*When I first got married I had blond hair and blue eyes. Today I barely have
hair and the hair I do have is white and my eyes changed to brown.

Now that my eyes are brown I figure I've eaten all the Sh!t I have to and the
wife and I don't even have to argue about things any more because we can just look at each
other and know what each are thinking.

My point is, Don't worry about failing at marriage. Worry about how you will
make each other the two happiest people on the planet and strive to do
just that. Have goals together and support one another along the way.

I had better stop now because I could easily write and entire encyclopedia
series on this subject from past experiences...lol
