Not there now. I guess I was trying to get a Scottish goat, I have no idea why. If I heard someone say, "Canada is almost as nice as the United States," I'd be annoyed. Once worked on a sheep farm run by Scots and they'd sometimes rant about the English when they were done.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

      Scotland is beautiful!

My mother is Scottish and my fathers family come from generations of English/Scots people living on the borders so one generation would be "Scottish" the next would be "English" due to the wars

I lived in England for 7 years without visiting Scotland - I thought to myself "its just a line in the dirt" but once you cross the border you really are in a different country!

I've never been to Scotland but I did work on a sheep farm run by Scots in Argentina. They settled there like two hundred years ago, but still curse the English and the Campbells.

I agree that most countries are probably beautiful in parts. Despite living in northern england for 49 years I have only been to southern Scotland. However the parts I have been to are indeed lovely. One of my friends married a Scot and has gone native and now starts a lot of her sentences with 'see'.
I like the borders area so much that I even got married there once. Duns to be exact.

I've been over the world and have to say Scotland compares in terms of beauty to just about anywhere. Being from the north of England and having clients up there at the time I used to spend a lot of time in the country. Love it - can't get enough of it.

My best friend is Scottish, and the other day she e-mailed me what's below. I'll (grudgingly!) admit that I actually laughed when I got to the end, and haven't managed to come up with a suitably cutting response. Yet.

Wow! It sounds like a slice of heaven right here on earth. I never really thought about going to Scotland, but it sounds quite inviting to me now.

As a guy who thinks 70F is the time to turn on the air conditioning, and who wears short sleeves year-round, and who lives in the northern United States...that e-mail, though meant to be humorous, sounds like a travel brochure to me.

Me, no. I'm descended from John Fulford, an Englishman who, in 1655, after a fallout with relatives was framed and shipped off to Barbados as a prisoner under false pretenses. From there, over time, everything got into the mix, know what I mean.

If you can get past the deep fried mars bars and the funny language that nobody but the sweaty's seem to understand, it's not a bad place. If you like a drink and a good old fashioned drug binge, Scotland is the place to be. Never met so many nutters in my life, (and I'm from Liverpool.) Love Scotland and the Scots. Beware the islanders, they are insane. Especially the ones from Rothesay.
