I know I probably shouldn't pay any attention to post count, but when I am evaluating a WSO I look at the comments other purchasers have made. If all of the buyers have a low post count, I don't pay as much attention to the offer.

Does that make me a post-count snob?

I put zero emphasis on post count.

The only statistic I actually even look at is - Join Date.

If someone has been a member here for more than a few years then I do pay more attention to their post because I know they have experience behind them. It may be bad experience, but at least I know they've been around long enough to have got past all the normal mistakes and see all the usual information.

Post count is irrelevant because anyone can come here and post 5000 posts of useless information.

We see people sometimes come here and have 1000 posts within a few months but often they're newbies and have time on their hands so they post whatever comes into their head.

There are long standing warriors with less than 100 posts whose opinion I greatly value.

I think the join date is more important....there might some bored guy who post hundreds posts every day and he has really nothing to show and teach...

I don't really look at post count unless it is under like 10. I find those posts really sketch for some reason. I guess its the look of "3 Posts" under there name that just makes me think about what they are saying a bit more. Especially those that seem to show up here and have a really low post count and it looks like their thread was copy-pasted from somewhere else.

Woah that's weird, I was on my 99th post, and now it's saying 78 on mine??? What is going on?

Also that I agree with the opinion on join dates being important, though not very helpful for myself. I'm not new to marketing, but am relatively new to forums, or at least posting in them.

I'd say I agree with mainstreet, I don't think low post counts are bad, unless it is less than 10, I think he had it exactly right, it just seems sketchy.

Haha no kidding. That's really strange. Also until a few minutes ago, it said I had been thanked 21 times in 16 posts, now its just 20 times in 15 posts.

Ohhh, so when posts are deleted, then all the posts I made in them go away, thats a little annoying but understandable. Somebody must be cleaning shop right now, since I've lost 28 posts and Two thanks in the last 5 minutes.

Ok let me change up the question a bit, say someone was a newer member, with say around 50 posts, and they were posting threads giving advice to everyone on how to succeed at IM, if your going to be totally honest do you think that you would consider taking their advice (if it was about something you weren't familiar with), or would you be too skeptical at first.

Thanks Alexa for the honest input. I feel the same way, but I can also usually tell when someone clearly knows what they are talking about. This whole marketing thing certainly is very interesting, with a lot of helpful info, and of course some not so helpful info, and being able to sort out the good from the bad is important.

By the way did you ever get that situation solved with the other Alexa calling people, or is that still a mystery? I was reading that thread last week and the whole thing just seemed bizzare.

Seriously, I don't pay much attention to post count. I pay attention to post content. When I first came here, I had been in business for over twenty years, and discounting my level of experience for having a low post count would have been an awfully big mistake.

Of course, if I'd come in here and said a bunch of stupid crap, it wouldn't really have mattered how experienced I was.

Everyone seems to have the same opinion on post count, and I share those views as well, I've been very pleased with what I have heard so far.

Now this is something that bothered me at first, but I have become more comfortable with it now that I have gotten more used to the forum world. But what do you think about when reading advice from a poster, or just any post in general, when the poster doesn't have particularly good english?

At first this just bothered me for some reason, probably because I couldn't help but think of all those internet scams out there that are always poorly constructed in terms of English, I suppose my subconscious mind was telling me it was a scam. But after I got more used to it, I realized that there were people from all over the world on this forum, and while some of them don't have great english, they still have great advice.

Did anyone have the same initial apprehensions as myself? I hope this doesn't make me sound like a bigot or anything.
