Mine is also firefox. It's great and there are so many free extensions available, that's the best part, especially for a freeware fan like me!

I recently switched to Google Chrome. It took a while to get used to it but now I really like it.

I decided to give it a try after being infected with numerous viruses over a matter of several weeks. When I finally managed to locate them a few had "firefox" in the filenames. I was also able to identify one of the sites that was doing the infecting.

I downloaded Google Chrome and went to the offending site and Chrome warned me that it might infect my computer and game me the option to go on to the site or "return to safety".

Since switching to Chrome I've had no problems whatsoever. The downside to Chrome is that there aren't many plugins available yet although Google is promising them in the future. I've kept FireFox but only use it now when I need to utilize one of the plugins.

I've also noticed that streaming video seems to work much faster and smoother with Chrome.

      RIck,

Thanks for these details! Just had to remove Firefox for a similar reason, and am bummed, but checking into Chrome. Firefox had a plugin-container.exe that automatically kept activating Adobe Flash (? think it was), crashing systems, wow. Found this thread on it for help:

I'm using Firefox 4.0 beta right now, pretty cool. The plugins make Firefox browsers definitely the best imo.

Occasionally i use Opera, in my opinion it's the fastest browser and it's pretty.

Firefox for me, too, and it's partly for the plugins as well. I upgraded to v3.6.7 this week and it's working better than ever.

I have not really tried chrome but I mean to do so one of these days, as soon as I get around to it. For me it's not just a matter of installing. I would have to tweak it so that it fits my working style, and that may take a bit of time. And time is something that I do not have much of these days.

I settled for Google Chrome the default browser and Mozilla Firefox is the browser on my second choice for other reasons. Google Chrome is my first choice because it minimalism. It is very fast and organized in a simple manner. I use Firefox to download, etc. It is a great browser, but has become slow, in my opinion. If Mozilla can solve the problem slowly. It could be back in the game as much as I concerned.

Firefox is so 2008. It has severe resource issues that have turned a lot of past supporters away.

I try to use Chrome exclusively now, although it has been having RAM issues where active pages suck up RAM. Static pages are fine.

MSIE is always the good old standby. It gets a lot of undeserved flack.

I am using a five year old laptop as it still does everything I need it to do but the problem with an older computer is that software (including browsers) are written for the computers currently on the market and my five year old struggles to work with some programs.

While Google Chrome does make normal browsing somewhat faster than any other browser I've used, it REALLY makes streaming video much smoother. I can't even get videos to play at all on my machine with Explorer or Netscape. Videos do stream with Firefox but they often freeze up, pixelate, or pause to buffer more video. When using Google Chrome, videos play beautifully.

I haven't checked lately but Google has always promised that add-ons would eventually be made available for Chrome. I've just been too busy to check it out.

I go back and forth between Firefox and Chrome. Firefox is preferred for all its add ons, but sometimes I'll get slower load times on things (usually because I have too many windows open). If Firefox is locking up I'll switch over to Chrome and can usually access what I need immediately.

I have the basic three installed in all my computers: IE, Firefox and G Chrome.

I liked Firefox but everytime I updated it I had problems.

I had other issues with FF

I don't use much IE, as they say IE is more vulnerable to hijackers and viruses.

      I am testing Chrome.

Sometimes a browser gives problems with one computer but not with another one.

So, if you are having problems with your browser it could be your PC or laptop or the Internet provider.

      Sincerely,

      Antonios

Emma, you can change your settings so that the download window doesn't appear.

      1. Go to: Tools > Options and click on Options.

      2. When the Options dialog opens, click on the General tab if it isn't already selected.

      3. On the General tab, uncheck the box that reads "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file"

      4. Click OK.

Now the downloads window won't pop up when you download a file. You can always put a checkmark in the box by "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" later if you find you miss it. Or you can go to Tools > Downloads to open the Downloads window any time.

Well, it used to be IE until they "upgraded" it which made it much slower for me. And then I switched to Firefox and was very pleased with its speed, but the print is so freakin' tiny I can't read the content on many sites. It's like, 6 point or something.

I absolutely hated Google Chrome. Just can't get used to that weird interface. Spent more time looking for Tools, and the usual menus that are standard in IE and Firefox. Plus it doesn't fit my small monitor.

So at the moment, I do not have a favorite browser.

Chrome, been using it a long time. Safari is good to (have a Mac) but like Chrome better. Firefox was the best years ago without a doubt, blazing fast compared to anything else.... but with each update it's gotten more and more bloated. Running FireFox on my Macbook Pro, it actually does certain things a lil slower than Chrome, really the only reason I use FireFox is for video downloading from upload as for whatever reason it seems to be the only browser that works with Upload....Chrome and Safari both give "time ran out" for any downloads.

Thank You, I even posted that issue on Macrumors before, Safari used to constantly glitch, freeze or crash all the time. Mozila Firefox because of the great many add-ons being available. For something light, Chrome is good, but some sites still won't work on it.

    IE is last resort.

Whoa! I am using Mozilla Firefox for almost 4 years. The biggest advantage in using Firefox over Internet Explorer etc. is the fact that spyware does not get on your machine nearly as much.
    Mozilla Rocks!

Google chrome is the best internet browser because it is designed to be fast in every possible way, loads web pages in a snap and runs web applications fast. Its window is streamlines, clean and simple. It is more secure on the web with built in malware and phishing protection. It also provides auto updates for security. It has many more features built in with extensions, translation in browser and themes.

For some odd reason, I am attached to Safari even though it crashes all the time...I am just used to their layout. Mozilla is good for work tasks though. I really want to try Google Chrome though because I've been hearing many good things.

ChromePlus. It seems to be the best one for having space on my screen - IE, Firefox, Opera... all have a bigger address bar etc at the top.

Also, it saves time, like where I wanted to block my own IP from visiting my sites to get accurate stats, I highlighted the IP and dragged it to the box on the website, or it lets you drag any text and instantly search Google (this takes a right click on Firefox) and same with links, they can be simply dragged to open in another tab even if the link is a text link inside a code box.

I used to switch from Firefox to Opera like 50 times a year... now I use ChromePlus I have not had a reason to go back to either Firefox or Opera.

As for extensions, I never used them really.
