I am wondering how many warriors scuba dive, and where do you like to do it?

I don't scuba dive and I have a very good reason for it.

My brother scuba dives and his wife (well ex-wife now) is one of the highest ranked scuba diving trainers in our state was going to give me free lessons so I could go scuba diving with them in Mexico.

But upon learning that in the depths that they dive, you have to just "go" in your suit because returning to the surface too quickly can kill you, I declined.:p

Well, that brings back some warm memories.

I actually blew out an eardrum scuba diving in the '70's trying to catch up with two friends while we were diving in an abandoned rock quarry. They were going down faster than I could compensate for and with the low visibility, (about a meter) I didn't want to be alone as I have run out of air at 50 feet and having the ability to grab an extra breath before heading to the surface can save your life.

Snorkling is still a blast, but I can't dive anymore.

When I went snorkling at Shell Ha in Mexico, they made me wear one of those life jackets that have the strap that goes between your legs and unfortunately as I was so enthralled with all the vivid colors and how close I could get to the fish, I failed to realize that that dang strap caused me to get a wedgie.

And since my bottom had never seen the light of day before, it proceeded to get a really bad sunburn bobbing on the water's surface all day. And speaking of bobbing, yeah, you guessed correctly, it looked like a bobber when we were finished!

I couldn't sit down for two days without experiencing stinging pain.

That sounds scary, my friends have invited me once but due to busy schedule I was not able to join them scuba diving, but I am still hoping time will let me try that kind of adventure under the sea.

      Hi,

just found that post while searching for an honest review of "Twitter Diving" ;-)
I will scuba dive in the future for sure. Was on Boracay Island on the Philippines in March and my Chinese girlfriend (who can't swim more then 5m without going down to the ground ;-)) nearly forced my to go scuba diving... Great experience. We only have had a 30 minute introduction dive, but where both sold. It looks kind like we both have a new hobby, haha.

We are just thinking about re-locating back "home" to Germany, as I got a great offer by a friend for a 50% share in his advertisement agency, but Meiling, my girlfriend, thinks about becoming a diving instructor, as she could do what she likes and could earn quite a bunch of money (there aren't that much diving instructors that speak both, Mandarin and English and even less female diving instructors with that specific skill set, but more and more Mainland Chinese that go out to explore the world ;-)). I also think about setting up a new company on the Philippines and then we could spend the summer in Europe and the cold winter in Asia, only 3 hours flight away from our relatives in China... Sounds great to me ;-)

      Best
      Sven

      PS:
This is only the old introduction picture for my video from my outsourcing website... Will change it sooner or later... I'm the gentlemen on the left BTW ;-)

You may not be able to dive because you are in the wrong cove, make sure that it is the broken circle of coral reefs SE of the island.

Good Luck, and if it's still not working, you may have to reinstall the game (but I doubt you'll have to)

Certified in '92 for open water. Swam with the Manatees in Florida as part of my certification dive. Haven't done much since the mid 90s though. Would like to dive some wrecks off the coast of NC here - just another entry on my bucket list....

Yesterday I saw about 20 dolphins right in Auckland harbor about 50 ft from the wharf.

Never seen them up close before.

Back in the '80s I was taking my boat over to Catalina Island for the weekend and I saw the most amazing sight.

Around a half a mile ahead of me the water horizon appeared about three feet taller for about a quarter mile in each direction left to right. I had no idea what was causing this.

A few minutes later I was going in/over a school of dolphins that numbered in the thousands and were crossing my path. The appearent rise of the horizon was caused by their jumping (porpoising) en mass.

Since I was doing around 25 knots I was concerned about a collision as they were so thick you could almost walk on them. But they were smart enough to dive as my boat passed over them (very un-manatee like ).

I wish I had my camera on the bridge...

I've been diving since the early nineties. I keep saying I'm going to get my divemaster or instructor rating but haven't done it yet.

Might be a good goal for next year.

I have always been interested in scuba diving. I would love to maybe try it out one day.

I think its very expensive to buy the equipment though.

i learned it simply to go Great White cage diving in Gaains (?)Bay South Africa (99) That was amazing.

But when diving even to just 16 metres I got terible pains in my ears and once blood came out. I saw the Dr. and he told me to stop diving due to eardrum problems.

It is great...but it's pretty scary as well. Things can go wrong down there....I wouldn't like to dive deep.

No I have just read about scuba diving in some story or sort of novel. However it always seems fascinating. I always admire the national geographic scuba divers, they are so lucky to observe the ocean species so closely.
