it can be about anything cool or interesting . It just recommends cool videos ! Saves you the time of searching on youtube yourself...

If it's just videos you think are cool or interesting, you probably won't get many takers.

The same as what I think is cool or interesting would probably get even less viewers.

You should pick "cool and interesting" videos on a special theme, ie kittens, puppies, people doing dumb things, etc. You'd then get an audience who are interested in that.

Trying to attract a "mass-market" audience appealing to everyone is going to be very hard for a start up though.

Which is why virtually everyone on the WF advises targeting a specific niche for any website be it videos, articles or any other form of content.

thank you so much for your advice! so cool videos isn't niche enough , maybe cool car videos or cool dance videos would be more targetted and draw more viewers? Is that it?
But couldn't i build up a followership if people like my taste in interesting videos? Thats possible to isn't it?

Something like that. Obviously that limits your audience to people who think that cars or dancing is cool.

What I was trying to say is that trying to grab a slice of a very fragmented market is getting harder and harder. With so much choice out there, a "one size fits all" approach may not be the best option for you if you want a huge amount of visitors. It isn't working for traditional media outlets (TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, etc.) who are losing "viewers" to niche outlets. This doesn't mean that they are in their death throes (although some definitely are), however they are in decline.

Very possible.

However what you, or I, or anyone else for that matter, thinks is "cool" is very subjective. One man's cool is another man's drool if you like.

No matter which path you take though (niche or mainstream), I wish you success with it.

Thanks so much for your advice my friend. I have learnt more from you then spending countless hours trying to reason things out in my head .I will pick the niche of "amazing videos" which gets about 22k hits a month . Enough about me , what about yourself , what are you doing ?

I go to wimp.com everyday. I think if you create a site that assures your visitors will have something interesting to look at, once they find it they may become daily visitors. I also visit failblog.org everyday for the same reason. I know something on that site will tickle my funny bone everyday.

Look at your purpose for doing it. If it is for people to just see the videos then that is what you will get. Maybe lots of numbers to your site. If that is what you want that is what you will get. So the question is what is your purpose?
