We're finding using the search facility in Windows7 nearly useless. Is there a "prpper"way to use it or is there something we'ew missing. Your advices would be helpful.

What do you mean useless, what are you trying to do with it?

It can do the same as Vista and XP, you can use Google to find out how its done in the new tool?

I have a huge harddrive full of resell rights products and often I want to see what I have in a particular niche. So I head for the big folder which contains other folders, alphabetical and I use the main keyword for the niche as the search.
You wouldn't believe what it comes back with! Bears no resemblance to my search keyword whatsover in a lot of it. The search facility with xp (which I miss) just used to come up with folders whose name contained my keyword. Exactly what I need. I haven't found in Windows 7 where I could request "folders only". It gives me an individual text or graphic.
If you can help, I'd really be grateful.

      Really?

I think the problem might be stemming from windows 7 search looking into the document rather than simply the title.

Thanks Andie. I'm pretty sure I've done that already... but I'll go again!
Am0992... that's exactly right. That is what's happening. But there's nowhere I can find to stipulate "folders". Plus it picks up heaps of stuff that bears no resemblance to what I asked for.

Just type your query into the search window on the Start Menu and it will automatically look for the file. If it doesn't find the files that you want, then open Indexing Options from the control panel, and select the additional location(s) that you want it to look. Once that is done, select the Advanced Option button at the bottom, and in Troubleshooting, select the replace and rebuild button. Then sit back and wait for a while, because it takes a while for it to finish.
