Is that a wise thing to do? I see that all of the time in the WSO threads. I notice that it gets much quicker results, but can't someone just steal your transaction number and claim it as their own and also claim your wso? Is it wise to post your paypal transaction number in threads?

The vendor can check who the transaction number belongs to very quickly.

The transaction number will have to match with the name and email address the buyer used for the purchaser. The vendor can checked that in split second.

When you're talking about paypal - there is NO need to post a transaction number. It won't hurt you in any way - but it's not useful as the number given to the seller is a different transactions number.

The transaction number is a way for paypal to identify your transaction - the seller's number is a different one because it's for paypal to identify the seller's transactions. (with sales outside paypal the trans number may make a difference but most posted here are paypal transactions).

Your paypal email address is the easiest way for a seller to find your order.

When I see people posting (or telling others to post) "transaction numbers", I know someone is either clueless or posturing. If you placed the order and paid...the seller knows it.

90% of the download problems mentioned in sales threads here (WSO section, for example) are not a problem but inattention of the buyer who didn't click "back to merchant" after paying in order to get the download.
